All cakes are 4-layers of cake with fillings in between (unless requested smaller) covered in the softest buttercream in your favourite flavor.
You are then able to choose how many tiers or cakes you would like for your Wedding cake. Some Brides like to have a cutting cake and
a cupcake for each of their guests allowing the happy couple to keep their cutting cake for their 1st Anniversary!
Sue's Sweet Delights will create your cake based on your wedding's theme and/or colour-scheme to make sure it matches your reception.

I have completed my HASF training and many online Courses as well as Courses with Australian and International Cake Decorators. If you know the cake maker and decorator that you wishto use then my advice is to book early to avaoid disappointment as they may well be booked on the date you have chosen. I have hadbrides book with me for thier wedding 2 years in advance as they know they want me to create their cake but just not sure at that time of their design! If you are willing to take a chance then at leaste 6 months out from the date is prefered.

Most cake decorators will enquire as to the number of people or guest you will be serving and if you are serving your cake as a coffee/tea accompaniment or as a desert. The size for coffee is normally 1"x2" pieces and a desert size is normally 3" x 2". As for the cake sizes they can start at 4" and go up to around a 16" and can be a variety of shapes and hieghts, depending on the cake decorator.

Traditionally wedding cakes were white and covered in a sugary Royal Icing as there were no real preservatives in the cakes and the white signified Purity. However these days a wedding cake can be any shape, colour, style or theme which suits the Bridal couple. I have made black cakes, blue, red, orange, you name itif it can be done I will try to please the couple!
