Your celebrant can assist you with this by providing some examples to get you started, but be yourself, speak from your heart, keep it simple don't try to write war and peace, remember what brought you to this piont that you want to get married.

Your Celebrant can assist and guide you to write your own vows.

I provide my clients with many inspirations of how to write their vows with sentence starters, or complete vows after discussing with them what they like.

Here are some tips:

  • Don't leave it to the last minute to write your vows
  • Agree on a target length for your vows, don't make them too long
  • Agree on the style, talk to your partner about your 'together' memories, hopes and dreams
  • Get your thoughts down on paper. You'll be amazed how they'll flow once you get started
  • Keep it personal, but not too personal?
  • Keep it fun
  • Practice your vows out aloud
  • Remember your vows are for each other

Hello,

Writing vows can seem like such a daunting task.  A few tips I give my clients is to write down key words or memories of their partner and times you have shared together.  Dont try to write full sentences and dont worry about grammer - just get thoughts and words down on paper.

Allow yourself plenty of time to do this, and dont try to do it in one sitting.  Eventually, the words and the message you want to give your partner will become apparent.

Speaking from the heart and being authentic to you is the most important thing.

You can do this!

Much love,

There is some great information on this website about beautiful wedding vows. Parts of the vows are defined by law and so must be said by the celebrant and the couple. But you can be creative and write your own to reflect what is special about your relationship. Vows can be romantic, funny, poetic or serious. It's up to you. Find the celebrant that you want for your wedding day and they will work with you on creating what you want. Have a beautiful wedding day!

Hi there,

Your vows are your own, so I can't write vows for you, but here are some suggestions to get started.

Keep it simple and honest.  When you find yourself in an inspired mood, try the following:

  1. start by making your partner feel great with compliments and affirmations, letting them know they are the only one for you
  2. make a promise or several promises of your intentions, what you bring to the marriage
  3. finish with a vision to the future that encompasses you both, and include any existing children, and family goals.

Jotting down bullet points of feelings, hopes and desires for your marriage might be a good start, then turn them into short sentences.

If you are still in need of inspiration, ask your celebrant for more help or look for samples online.  Listening to love songs can also be inspiring.

There is no right or wrong, they are yours to make.
