FAQ

Absolutely!! This is your ceremony and your day and you can make your vows as personal and unique as you wish. Of course, you don't have to write your own or if you are struggling to know how to approach it, I have lots of templates, suggestions and ideas to share with you to get you started.

There are also legal and formal vows which must be included, but these can be said separately from your personal vows, or included in them, if you wish

I will meet with you several times (phone, F2F or online) to get to know you both, hear your love story, find out what sort of ceremony you want (and assist and guide you by supplying lots of resources and ideas where needed. I will write a personalised ceremony unique to you both as a couple, complete and lodge all legal paperwork with Births, Deaths & Marriages NSW within all the required time frames, perform the ceremony on the day and ensure that all is setup correctly and it runs smoothly and be a support to you both, prior to and during the ceremony. In short, I will take all the stress out of the actual ceremony and the legal work and go above and beyond to accommodate your wishes to make this day truly special for you.

Both persons need to supply Birth Certificate, and/or a Passport as proof of Birth and Passport or Drivers Licence for Photo Identity .

If either or both persons are divorced then you need to supply the Divorce Certificate. If a widow/er then Death Certificate of former partner is required. I need to sight all originals and this is done at one of the early meetings when the NOIM (Notice of Intended Marriage) is completed and signed. This document must be signed between 1 month to 18 months prior to the wedding date.

It is not completely necessary but 99.9% advisable, unless circumstances make it not feasible. It is important so that we can go through the choreography for the day - where everyone stands, practicing  the entrance and exit ( to the music if possible) to get the timing right etc. , readers or speakers know when and where they are speaking and how any special rituals ( Sand/Unity Candles/Hand Fasting etc) are going to work. Also, it is usual at the rehearsal which is held during the week or day before the ceremony for the Declaration of No legal Impediment doc to be signed by the couple. This is better than having to worry about signing it on the actual day before the Ceremony commences.

Any 2 persons, over the age of 18 years can be the witnesses. They need to be able to hear and understand the Ceremony in the language it is being spoken in - if this is an issue with either of them an AUSLAN signer/or Language Interpreter can be engaged to ensure they clearly hear/understand the content of the ceremony.

Asking family members/ friends to be witnesses is often a good way to involve those special people who are not part of the bridal party.

Sabina was such a wonderful Celebrant to work with! From the moment my husband and I met her, she was warm, engaging, friendly, professional but also so much fun! She goes above and beyond and really got to know us so she could tell a story about our relationship on our wedding day. She also guided us through every step of the journey from our vows to the legal mandatories and the ceremony. On the day of our wedding, my husband and I were really nervous but Sabina's warmth put us instantly at ease! She also connected with our friends and family in the room so naturally. We can't recommend her highly enough and would give her more than five stars if that was an option! We loved her.

Thank you Anna for your glowing review. I loved being your celebrant and guiding you and Pete through the whole process with lots of laughs and fun along the way. What a fabulous day we had at The Green Moustache!

March 2023

Sabina was so personable when creating our Ceremony and had such a wonderful energy. The Ceremony was so meaningful, relaxed, personal and funny - exactly what we wanted. I could not recommend Sabina enough, she is very professional, organised, helpful and really captured our love and life throughout our ceremony with our guests shedding happy tears as well as many laughs.

Hi Sam, Your wedding was a blast and there was so much fun and love and laughter in the air that day. A magical setting at Pasadena and superstar bride and groom really made for an amazing day. I loved being your celebrant and workng with you and Adam to make your day so special.

January 2023

My partner, Steve and I were married in Maleny in late November and Sabina conducted our ceremony for us. We were absolutely delighted with her; she ensured our service was light and friendly just as we wanted, and wrote a beautiful, very apt ceremony for us that we were extremely happy with from the moment we read it. We had to arrange everything prior to the wedding over teleconference calls as Sabine lives in NSW and we are in QLD, but the distance did not cause any inconvenience - the process was easy and the end result perfect. We would highly recommend her for anyone getting married.

Hi Gabi, thank you for your review. It was fabulous being able to do your wedding for you and I loved being able to combine the Scottish and Austrian elements into the ceremony. Lots of fun!

July 2024

Sabina was one of my old school teachers, and she officiated my sister's wedding. So when my now husband proposed, of course we had to give her a call. We had a... less than traditional wedding. Sabina has an ideal blend of professionalism and enthusiasm that worked pure magic into our day. When we told her we were having a Sci-Fi/Fantasy Fancy Dress wedding, she threw herself right into the roll and created the most perfect ceremony. Each part was filled with equal parts Star Wars and Lord of the Rings references, and our personal love stories, all of which Sabina had researched and written. Her speed in sorting out the accompanied paperwork and legal took all the headache out of any organising, and she even sorted out the marriage registration afterwards. Frankly, anyone who can muster up a hundred people to yell out "May The Force Be With You!" to begin your wedded life is an instant recommendation in my book.

Sabina was our favourite wedding vendor for so many reasons! She is a very attentive celebrant, ensuring to get to know you as individuals and as a couple. She was a great point of contact on the day ensuring that everyone was coordinated and that everything would run smoothly. Her pricing is great and you can be assured that she will create a fantastic wedding ceremony. With Sabina in control I was able to relax on my wedding day because I knew she would make it all come together perfectly. I also had so many compliments from my guests who said it was one of the best ceremonies they have attended as Sabina was very engaging and they loved hearing her talk about our story. Thank you so much, Sabina! -Olivia & Anthony

Is it OK to ask a celebrant to wear a costume at our wedding?

Hello! I've read some responses to celebrants dressing in a matching style etc. Is it rude to ask if they wouldn't mind wearing a costume? I've read somewhere a couple got married by batman and then the obvious Elvis option.. I like the idea of an iconic character and think it would be something to remember but wouldn't want to offend anyone or make it a bad experience. TIA

Sabina's Ceremonies - Sabina Turner

Hello!!

Yes of course it is OK to ask your celebrant to dress in a matching style. If they don't want to then they will say so and you don't have to engage them.  I think its great fun to dress up and if it helps to make your wedding as unique and personal to you, then why not!

Hope this helps. Have fun planning your wedding and remember to maintain your sense of humour and see the funny side when things get stressful.. It s all about a celebratiion of your love and your commitment ot each other.

What are the most important things to include in wedding vows?

Sabina's Ceremonies - Sabina Turner

There is some brief Mandatory wording that needs to be used, but then you may create your own or let your celebrant assist you in making them as personalised and meaningful as possible. It is your opportunity to declare your love and commitment to each other and what is important to you both in your relationship. Your celebrant will have lots of suggestions and ideas for you to work with if you want. Remember you are making these promises in front of your family and friends. Good luck!
