FAQ

How long does it take to get your official marriage certificate after the wedding?

If you're getting married in NSW, I'll order your certificate for you straight away! Generally you can expect it in around 7-10 days.

Is it OK to ask a celebrant to wear a costume at our wedding?

Absolutely! You can also just ask them to fit in with your colour palette.

Who exactly can be a witness?

It can be anyone over the age of 18 who can attest to the fact that you got married! You can pick people from your wedding party, other people you'd like to involve in the ceremony, or you can do a raffle in the ceremony!

Can a tourist marry in Australia?

Anyone can be married in Australia as long as they fit the legal requirements (i.e. are over the age of 18, aren't related, aren't married to someone else, and are consenting). You just need to lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with your celebrant at least a month beforehand.

What is the process for marrying overseas?

You can either look into local process for where ever it is you are getting married and go through the motions there, alternatively you can complete your legal paper work here in Australia with a celebrant before you go!
