Children in the Ceremony what should I expect ?

Children add delightful moments to your ceremony, just remember they are children and not paid actors so whatever part you want them to play keep it simple and don't expect too much!

Do you welcome children at a ceremony?

When I was little I loved nothing more than going to a relatives wedding I have some of my best memories of being all dressed up! Yes children enjoy the moments that mean the most to all so bring them along.

Do you include Children in your guest count?

I don't include children in my guest count on my packages as I encourage couples to share their day with the whole family! Children love seeing a beautiful bride dressed up in her elegant gown and getting dressed up themselves, so bring them along!

Where do we even begin? Five stars simply aren't enough to express how incredibly grateful we are to have had Helen Hendren as our wedding celebrant. She was, without a doubt, one of the best decisions we made for our special day, and we genuinely couldn't have imagined anyone more perfect to officiate our wedding. Our wedding was a little unconventional. We wanted a small, intimate ceremony surrounded by our closest friends, high up in the snow-covered mountains of Mt Hotham. It wasn't the easiest wedding to plan, especially with the unpredictability of alpine weather and the logistics of holding a ceremony up a mountain! But from the very beginning, Helen embraced our vision wholeheartedly and made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. Her warmth, enthusiasm, flexibility, and genuine dedication to making our dream a reality were truly remarkable. What made Helen so exceptional was how much heart and thought she poured into every little detail. She took the time to understand our story, our eleven years together, and why Mt Hotham held such a special place in our hearts. She then transformed what we initially envisioned as a simple legal ceremony into something so deeply personal, meaningful, and unforgettable. One of the most touching moments was when she surprised us with a beautiful poem she had personally written for us, "The Mountain Paths". Hearing those words, inspired by our love story and the mountains surrounding us, was incredibly special. It was such a thoughtful gesture and one of those moments we will treasure for the rest of our lives. And her thoughtfulness didn't stop at the ceremony! Helen even joined us for our intimate wedding dinner in Bright, where she had prepared another beautiful surprise: a personalised vow box for us to keep our handwritten vows, alongside heartfelt messages from our closest friends. She thoughtfully incorporated this into our celebration, creating a meaningful keepsake that we'll open as we prepare for our lives

My husband and I were planning on an elopement, but still wanted the ceremony components, and connection with the people there were paramount. Helen absolutely fit the bill on all counts. She was both personable and professional, clearly listened to us and what we wanted and added some lovely personal touches. On the day the ceremony was the perfect mix of tears and laughter and we didn't have to think about any of the paperwork. Having a friend act as our celebrant: Pros and cons?

We are considering having a close friend conduct our wedding ceremony. We plan to handle the official, legal paperwork beforehand, so the day itself would be a symbolic ceremony led by them. Has anyone done this before? Did it make the ceremony feel more personal and seamless, or did you regret not hiring a professional?

Moments with Helen

Having a friend or family member lead your ceremony can be incredibly special.

I have been involved in many co-presented ceremonies, and they often become some of the most heartfelt weddings because the person telling your story knows you so well.

If you would like your legal marriage to take place during your wedding ceremony, a registered marriage celebrant can work alongside your chosen person. I often introduce myself briefly before the ceremony, explain my role, and then hand over to the friend or family member to conduct the ceremony. I simply step in at the appropriate time to complete the legal wording and requirements, then quietly step back so they can continue.

When it's time to sign the marriage documents, I am ready at the signing table to guide everyone through the paperwork and ensure eveything is legally correct.

Most guests barely notice the transition, and the ceremony still feels very personal.

I also bring my own PA system so everyone can hear clearly and I am always happy to help with playing ceremony music if needed. It allows your chosen person to focus on delivering a beautiful ceremony without worrying about the practical details.

If you genuinely don't want a celebrant involved in your wedding ceremony at all, another option is to have a legal-only ceremony beforehand.

Your friend or family member can then conduct your ceremony on the day as a completely symbolic celebration.

There really isn't a right or wrong choice—it comes down to what feels most meaningful to you as a couple.

Both options can create a beautiful wedding.

Officate a wedding

Hi There, I have a general question. My best friend is getting married in 15 months and the couple asked if I could officiate. Now, I was honoured but looking at it in a practical sense, I have reservations. eg the course, costs and ongoing registration. Let alone the nerves about doing this right, without messing it up. Besides this isn't going to be a side career going forward. However, I'm keen to make it happen in some fashion or another. What is the bare minimum officiate input from a celebrant? Can myself and family to bulk of the vows and readings etc? Any advice would be helpful. Regards Angelo

You will need to engage an authorised marriage celebrant to conduct the Legal requirements of your marriage.

Can a Celebrant from NZ legally marry you in Australia?

My partner and I live in Australia but I originate from NZ. I want my pastor to officiate our wedding and wanted to know if we can get married over here in Australia if he is our celebrant?

Unfortunately a NZ Paster or celebrant cannot marry you in Australia.
But they can present your ceremony and be assisted by an Australian authorised celebrant who will complete the legal bits for you .
