OVERVIEW
Mark believes your ceremony should sound like the two of you, not a template. He takes the time to get to know you both, then writes a ceremony around your story: how you met, what you love about each other, and the promises you want to make. Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement, a relaxed backyard celebration or a full formal wedding, there’s a package to suit, and every one is handled with the same care.
Mark’s style is warm, joyful and relaxed. He puts nervous couples at ease, welcomes your guests like old friends, and keeps the focus where it belongs: on you. Behind the scenes, he brings nearly three decades of governance and compliance experience to the legal side of your marriage, so your paperwork is accurate, on time and handled with care.

FAQ
I’m based in Brisbane and marry couples across Greater Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. My standard pricing applies to weddings in Greater Brisbane. For the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast or further afield, just ask and I’ll give you a quote that includes travel.
I offer three types of wedding ceremonies:
Every option is a legally valid marriage, and I prepare and lodge all of your legal documents in each case.
A Full Service Wedding includes an onsite rehearsal, unlimited edits to your ceremony, unlimited guests and a PA system.
A Basic Wedding suits up to 25 guests and includes two rounds of edits to your ceremony and a PA system, but no rehearsal.
A Coffee Table Wedding is a short, ready-made ceremony for a maximum of five people, including your two witnesses.
Pricing applies to weddings in Greater Brisbane held before 31 December 2027. An official marriage certificate from the Department of Births, Deaths and Marriages can be arranged for an optional $65.
A Coffee Table Wedding, sometimes called a micro wedding or elopement, is a simple, ready-made ceremony for a maximum of five people, including your two witnesses. It suits couples who don’t want a big wedding, are marrying for the second time, or want something simple without a registry office. There’s no rehearsal or PA system, which keeps the cost down, but your marriage is every bit as legal and the moment every bit as special.
Yes. A PA system is included with the Full Service and Basic Weddings, so your guests can hear every word. Coffee Table Weddings are small enough not to need one.
Once you confirm your date, I’ll send you a booking confirmation form and an invoice. A $200 non-refundable deposit secures your date, and the balance is due two weeks before your wedding.
Popular dates book out early, so it’s worth securing your celebrant as soon as you have a date and venue. Legally, your Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged at least one calendar month before the wedding, and it stays valid for 18 months. I recommend lodging it around six months out, so it’s never a last-minute rush. I prepare the form for you to check and sign, and you don’t need to know your date or venue at that stage.
Yes, and I’d encourage it. I offer a relaxed, no-obligation chat by phone or video call so we can get to know each other and you can make sure I’m the right fit. Just send an enquiry with a few times that suit you.
Absolutely. Your ceremony should reflect who you are, and that can include faith, family or cultural traditions. I’ve incorporated elements such as prayers, readings, blessings and rituals for couples. Tell me what matters to you and we’ll find the right place for it in your ceremony.
Yes. As well as being your celebrant, I can MC your reception, keeping the evening running smoothly so you can relax and enjoy it. Several of my couples have booked me for both. Mention it in your enquiry and I’ll include it in your quote.
This is your day, so I’ll check your colour theme and level of formality ahead of time. My aim is to complement your style and blend in, so the focus stays on the two of you.
I’m a Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrant with a Certificate IV in Celebrancy, and a member of the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants (AFCC). I’m also insured. Outside celebrancy, I’m a Justice of the Peace (Qualified) and hold an MBA and a Bachelor of Business, with nearly three decades of governance and compliance experience. That means your legal paperwork is in very careful hands.

Get Expert AdviceHaving a friend act as our celebrant: Pros and cons?
We are considering having a close friend conduct our wedding ceremony. We plan to handle the official, legal paperwork beforehand, so the day itself would be a symbolic ceremony led by them. Has anyone done this before? Did it make the ceremony feel more personal and seamless, or did you regret not hiring a professional?
Mark The Celebrant
A friend leading your ceremony can be lovely, and I’ve seen it work beautifully. A few practical points will help you decide.
“Paperwork beforehand” still means a short ceremony. Signing forms isn’t enough to be legally married. You’ll need a brief legal ceremony with an authorised celebrant and two witnesses aged 18 or over, and your Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged at least one calendar month before it. It takes about ten minutes, but it needs to be planned.
Decide which date is your anniversary. If the legal ceremony happens on an earlier day, that’s the date on your marriage certificate. Some couples love having a quiet “real” date, and others would rather everything happen on the day itself, with the celebrant stepping in for the legal words.
Give your friend a framework, not a blank page. Most friends are honoured but nervous. A simple structure (welcome, your story, vows, rings, the kiss), a run-through beforehand, and a microphone make an enormous difference to how relaxed they feel and how well guests can hear.
Be clear with guests. If you’re already legally married, your friend should present the ceremony as a celebration of your marriage rather than the marriage itself. A light-hearted line in the welcome handles this easily.
Whichever way you go, I’m always happy to support a friend-led ceremony, from reviewing their script to handling the legal moments on the day.

Thank you so much, Thomas. It was a real joy getting to know you both and helping bring your story to life in your ceremony. Watching you share the vows you’d worked so hard on was a highlight of the day for me. I’m so glad you felt calm and could simply enjoy the moment. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together.
