My name is Doreen Burgoyne and I have been an authorised Marriage Celebrant since 2007. I can cater for whatever type of wedding ceremony you would like - casual, formal or even an elopement!

Having been a celebrant since 2007 - I couldn't think of a more rewarding job! To work with couples while they plan their "big day" is exciting and definitely a privilege. My career as a teacher has been a fantastic grounding for me to work as a celebrant. I approach each wedding in a professional and organised manner to ensure everyone is happy with the whole experience.

You can certainly write your own vows - as long as the legal vows are also included in the ceremony. Most couples say the legal vows first, then add their own to really personalise what they want to say to each other.
Yes - of course both your parents can walk you down the aisle. It's not a legal requirement, so choose whoever you like!
I find that most couples both exchange wedding rings, but it is NOT a legal requirement. It would definitely be okay for just you to receive a ring - but you could suggest to your partner that he too receives a ring during the ceremony, but only wear it when he's NOT working.
Could your partner talk to his mother and explain that while you are both grateful for any suggestions, you'd be happier if all the planning was left to both of you. Perhaps if you gave your partners mother a "job" on the day, she would be a bit happier. Could she be one of the witnesses, or perhaps do a reading as part of the ceremony. Good luck!
