OVERVIEW

What You’ll Love About Working with Liz Solomon Celebrant For Your Geelong / Great Ocean Rd Wedding:

  • Storytelling with substance. Liz looks for the telling details, private jokes, family phrases, and memorable moments that turn your ceremony into something guests actually listen to.
  • Legal know-how without the fuss. With a background in law and formal celebrancy training, Liz handles the required paperwork and ceremony structure with confidence and clarity.
  • A natural sense of humour. Liz’s experience in professional speaking and comedy improv brings ease, timing, and personality to the ceremony, without ever making the moment about her.

“I’ve been to a lot of weddings, and I’ve never seen a ceremony where the
entire room was that engaged. People weren’t just watching – they were
completely part of it.” -Stephen M

Your ceremony with Liz starts with a proper conversation, not a pile of templates and vague inspiration. She takes the time to understand your story, your people, your humour, your quirks, and the small details that say the most. From there, she shapes a ceremony with structure, rhythm, and personality, so it lands with meaning rather than simply ticking through formalities.

Liz can guide you through the legal requirements, vows, readings, blessings, rituals, cultural elements, and music choices, all without turning the process into homework. Choose from a legals-only ceremony or a fully personalised celebration, with resources, planning support, a rehearsal, a Bose public address system, and a ceremonial script included in the full package.

About

I'm a former lawyer, ethics adviser, public speaker, Mum to 4 sons and enthusiastic collector of Labrador fur. I love stories, people and ceremonies. Comedy improv keeps me humble and reminds me that life rarely goes exactly to plan. Away from weddings, you'll find me at the gym, around animals, or trying to persuade one particular future daughter-in-law that she really should get married so I can officiate! I love cultural traditions, family rituals and your furry family member's involvement!

The perfect ceremony - Liz was a dream! We are so happy we chose Liz Solomon for our wedding. From our very first meeting, Liz brought such a warm, joyful and professional energy that immediately put us at ease. She took the time to understand our story, and the ceremony she crafted was personal, heartfelt, and perfectly balanced with the right amount of emotion and humour. Our guests haven't stopped talking about how lovely and engaging the service was. We couldn't have had a more perfect celebrant for our day. Thank you so much Liz!

Having a friend act as our celebrant: Pros and cons?

We are considering having a close friend conduct our wedding ceremony. We plan to handle the official, legal paperwork beforehand, so the day itself would be a symbolic ceremony led by them. Has anyone done this before? Did it make the ceremony feel more personal and seamless, or did you regret not hiring a professional?

Liz Solomon Celebrant

I have actually been involved where a close relative presented the non legal aspects of the wedding and yes, it was beautiful- but you can't limit it to the legal documents. The registered celebrant must be involved in the ceremony itself. They need to say a particular paragraph (The Monitum) and listen to your 1line legal vows. If you don't want any involvement of the celebrant on the day you could have a "legals only" before hand where the statements I referred to and the signing can occur with just you and your witnesses.

However if the celebrant has already married you or you are not having them involved as required you must make it clear to the guests that what is happening with your friend is not a wedding.
The ceremony I was involved in had me do the legal documents, step in during the wedding to say the monitum and hear the vows then step back until required for the signing. Everything went very smoothly. Wishing you a happy experience on the day!
