About

I'm a true romantic inside and out. If love doesn't win in the end, what is it worth living for? I'm a twenty-something guy and did my first wedding in 2014 for a friend who asked me to be their MC/ celebrant. I loved it so much that I'm now doing it professionally. My background is acting/ singing so it is easy for me to engage an audience, write and lead a ceremony. I live in Sydney and enjoy surfing, snowboarding, the beaches (of course) and travelling the world. Fully vaccinated.

The best, fun and bespoke delivery of your personal ceremony, especially written for you.

All meetings required to get to know each other and get you all set for the big day (normally 2 meetings).

I am a certified Civil Marriage Celebrant and registered with the Attorney Generals Department.

As a celebrant I also complete annual professional development trainings and stay on top of new regulations, changes and any trends that influence the Australian wedding industry.

I am a member of the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants (AFCC) and must ahere to their professional 'Code of Ethics'. I attend trainings and professional networking events + hold a professional Indemnity & Broadform Liability Insurance.

In terms of the writing and performance of your ceremony I hold a Bachelor of Arts and have 15+ years of experience performing in front of an audience as an actor/presenter/performer both live theatre and for television.

Just recently I was awarded the 'Certificate of Excellence' by Easy Weddings for only 5 Star ratings in 2018.

I will be responsible for all paperwork and guide you through the process.

What we need when we first meet is your passports or birth certificates, drivers licences and if you've been married before, your divorce papers or other certificates that I will explain. I need to sight the originals and also be sent photocopies/scans of all documents (divorce papers).

I look after the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) and this form must be completed at the latest 1 month before your wedding date.

I complete & submit  the Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage (to be filled in as close to the wedding date as possible ie. at the rehearsal) and you'll receive the Official Marriage Certificate from me (presented on the day).

I love people, simple.

I love meeting people from all walks of life and hearing their unique stories and what makes them love each other.

It’s such a privilege and honour for me to bring it all together on the day and really make your love shine. Sounds kitschy but that’s really what it’s all about - Facilitating your love and guiding you through all the legalities. I really enjoy bringing it all together and finding the ‘element’ that makes your relationship special.

I also have a background as an actor/singer/presenter so it’s natural for me being up there in front of all your family and friends, leading the ceremony and painting a picture, bringing your story to life.

Initially I started MC-ing friends weddings and always loved the vibe of them so it was a natural progression for me to become a celebrant.

I have now married well over 50 couples and find it such a privilege to work with so many wonderful couples.

With Marriage Equality I'm super excited for same sex couples to finally be able to tie the knot.

I use only the best brand sound equipment and will bring my battery powered speaker with cordless microphone.

The speaker is super powerful so we can use it for your music as well (walk down the aisle etc).

I normally operate the speaker myself via my watch or a friend/family member of yours can.

You can easily write me here (homepage, to the right ->), message, email or just call me to discuss the date of your wedding and the location so I can confirm if I'm available.

Then, we meet in person here in Sydney (when possible) or via Skype if you are interstate/overseas so we can get to know each other and I'll walk you thorugh all the bits and pieces and start creating your very own ceremony.

I have a wide network of wedding suppliers and experience so I'm always happy to help, point you in the right direction and guide you.

I arrive at the location at least 45 minutes before the start time of your ceremony so I have enough time to set up the speaker and talk to the event manager/ photographer for a quick brief.

After our first meeting I'll send you an email with all information we have discussed and an invoice for the deposit to confirm block out your date and time in my schedule.

Full payment is required at our next meeting prior to the ceremony.

We cannot speak more highly of Andy - he is an incredibly kind and warm person as well as exceptionally talented celebrant. From the start, Andy made us feel very comfortable. He is very organised, made the process very easy, and we were able to rest assured that he would take care of everything before, during, and after our wedding ceremony. He had endless resources and tips to help us plan the ceremony and write our vows, and really worked to understand us to make our ceremony unique and personal. He is animated, funny and charismatic: characteristics that shone bright on our wedding day. He made the whole room laugh, cry, laugh and cry some more! He made sure the ceremony ran smoothly, allowing us to relax and truly enjoy the ceremony together. He really made our day special and memorable.

Wow - thank you for such an amazing review. I’m speechless ☺️ It was my absolute pleasure and honour having been your celebrant. Gosh, it was such a special day and amazing how we brought it all together including traditional elements and your gorgeous family and friends. I thank YOU so very much for choosing me and hope to see you somewhere soon. Much love, always. Andy 🫶🏻

Where do we start? Andy was nothing short of perfection on our wedding day. We arranged Andy to be both our Celebrant and MC. If you are considering both please choose Andy as both as he will pretty much run your night according to plan. Not only that, Andy is a handsome man, dresses brilliantly and also can hold the crowd and is a great storyteller. I have been to weddings were the celebrant was boring and MCs who were friends that could not control and get the attention from the audience. As MC, Andy will speak to you privately and let you know when the next speech or performance will start so that everything is run on time and smoothly. Before the wedding he will have a few private meetings and will run through everything you need to know for your wedding. We cannot rate Andy highly enough.

April 2022

Andy was AMAZING! This is the first wedding I have actually heard guests raving about the celebrant! Before the wedding, Andy made sure sure that he got to know myself & my (now) husband and he tailored the ceremony just for us! My Husband was not looking forward to having to write his vows, so Andy sent thrugh heaps of examples asnd offered to talk him through writing them- there wasn't a dry eye in the house ! Andy was funny, professional and was flexible to us! Due to the floods, we had to do a last minute venue change to Bathurst NSW and Andy made sure he was still there for us! We can't recommend him enough!

From guiding us through the legal formalities, ceremonial tips & recommendations with warmth and expertise to infusing our destination wedding with joy and meaning, Andy, our celebrant and master of ceremony was the heart and soul of our special days. His charm, personable nature, English-German bilingualism, accommodating spirit and gorgeous smile made every moment feel truly personalised and memorable. With gratitude, we can't thank our dear friend, Andy, enough for making our month-long wedding an unforgettable celebration of love. - Eva + Carola

Should we have signs at our ceremony to leave the front row vacant for immediate family?

I was thinking maybe this is tacky, but then maybe it's necessary. (Or am I really just overthinking it?) Someone suggested that this is the role of the celebrant - to ensure that it's family in the first row. Is that generally true?

Married by Andy - Celebrant & MC

Hi, you can do either. I've seen it many times that the front row had signs (make them small) so people won't sit there. It's pretty much common knowledge as well to leave the front row free for family so guests would normally not sit there either. Depending on how many chairs you have and family to sit in the front row you can decide as well. Speak to your celebrant if need be to manage this and let your family know as well where to sit. Hope it helps. Best, Andy

What does a marriage celebrant have to say?

What are the legal requirements?

Married by Andy - Celebrant & MC

Hi bride to be :)

Congratulations on your decision to marry.

For a legal marriage ceremony the celebrant must identify themselves as being an authorised marriage celebrant, their full legal name and why we are gathered here today.

This is normally part of the MONITUM, a legal requirement, explaining the following to the party being married, and at least two witnesses:

"My name is [Celebrants FULL NAME] and we are gathered today to witness the marriage of A & B. I am duly authorised by law to solemnise marriages according to law. Before you are joined in marriage in my presence and in the presence of these witnesses, I am to remind you of the solemn and binding nature of the relationship into which you are now about to enter. Marriage, according to law in Australia, is the union of two people to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life."

The following legal vows must be inclued as well establishing the full legal names of the parties to the marriage and the intent to get married.

Partner A must say to Partner B (and vice versa):

"I call upon the persons here present to witness that I, [Full Legal Name], take you,  [Full Legal Name] to be my lawful wedded wife/husband/spouse." (or words to that effect)

To put this into context, find the Order of Ceremony below. This can be changed and personalised according to the couples wishes etc but must include the Monitum and Legal Vows/ full names.

I walk couples throught the full process and we decide on the best order and may add poems, elements that make it even more YOUR ceremony.

  1. Pre-Welcome and organising guests
  2. Entry of bridal party/ brides or grooms
  3. Giving away
  4. Welcome by celebrant
  5. Introduction/ couples story
  6. Readings/ poems (if applicable)
  7. Monitum/ Legal
  8. Declaration of intention to marry (legal vows including full names)
  9. Personal vows
  10. Ring Exchange
  11. Signing of the register
  12. Announcement of marriage
  13. Wedding kiss
  14. Couple walk back down the aisle

All live happily ever after  :-)

*Apart from the Monitum and Legal Vows everything else is optional.
