Testimonials:
"Wonderful Jo, we would like to thank you so much for being our celebrant at our wedding ceremony! Thank you for guiding us in creating a ceremony that was truly representing us as people and as a couple. It was such a moving ceremony for us and our family and close friends. Your presence and your words were loving, charming and fun, just the perfect balance we hoped for to set the tone for our special day. We really appreciated having you as our celebrant, you will forever be close to our hearts." Alex
"Jo was the most hospitable, kind and enthusiastic celebrant we could have wished for.
Through asking all the right questions in the lead up to the wedding she was able to put together a wonderfully personal, heartfelt, humorous and entertaining offering on the day, which made us (the bride and groom) and the guests feel welcomed and comfortable in the space.
If you're looking for someone to support you on your special day in the most special way I'd look no further than Jo of Jo Pierce Ceremonies."

About
I love being a celebrant. Apart from being enormously enjoyable, I know it draws on the skills and capacities I have developed in my life as a single mum, working for many years with the general public, directing choirs and fronting a funk band. It really is a joy to officiate at celebrations steeped in love, joy and beauty. Collaborating with couples in the creation of their own unique ceremony is like being a 'wedding midwife', and is always an honour and a privilege.

FAQ
Absolute minimum of one calendar month. This is the minimum amount of time before your wedding that you can lodge the NOIM - Notice of Intended Marriage. It is possible to apply for a 'Shortening of Time', however this is only granted in special circumstances, and is at the discretion of the Prescribed Authority, often incurring a fee.
Yes they can, but consider this carefully.
Even the most well trained pets have been known to behave unpredictably at ceremonies, due to the excitement and numbers of people, not to mention other animals in public outdoor settings. I have seen ceremonies with pets reduced to chaos!
Provided they are over the age of 18, anyone can be your witnesses.
A celebrant works with you to create a personalised wedding ceremony that reflects your story, values, and vision. I’ll also guide you through the legal side of things and make sure everything flows smoothly on the day.
Absolutely! Together, we can include meaningful readings, music, rituals, personal vows, and anything else that feels like “you.”
You’ll need to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) no later than one calendar month and no sooner than 18 calendar months before the ceremony. I’ll help you complete all the paperwork and guide you through each step.
Yes! You can have as much input into your ceremony script as you want, and I’ll support you with examples, inspiration, and structure so your vows feel natural and heartfelt. Apart from the 'Minimum Legal Vows' and 'The Monitum', you can shape your vows in any way you want.
It’s best to book as early as possible, especially for popular dates. I am often booked 6–18 months in advance. However, I have been booked as little as 6 weeks before a wedding!
Yes - I’m happy to travel! Just let me know where your ceremony will be and we’ll work out the details.
Wonderful! I love helping couples create ceremonies that express their visions and values in memorable and meaningful ways.
Most ceremonies last around 20–30 minutes, but I’ll tailor the timing to suit your vision.
Yes - I offer everything from simple, intimate ceremonies to large, joyful celebrations.
Absolutely. I’m happy to honour your background, beliefs, and traditions in a respectful and meaningful way.
Yes, I happily offer my services as MC for your reception.
Warm, relaxed, engaging, and meaningful—with a touch of humour and plenty of heart.
You’ll receive a beautifully written ceremony (no AI!); lodgement of all legal documents including your official certificate of marriage; a rehearsal the day before your wedding; travel up to 100km each way (for larger distances I will need to charge extra); the use of my celebrant PA; as much communication via text, phone, zoom, email as you need; vow writing support, or I am very happy to write your vows for you; rituals and ideas to make your ceremony shine.
We’ll always have a wet weather contingency plan, so your ceremony will run beautifully, rain or shine. If you need to change the date, I will happily accommodate that unless I have a prior commitment.
We’ll usually have a couple of in-person or Zoom meetings, plus email, text or phone support along the way - whatever you need to feel confident and ready for your wedding.
Of course! Weaving your special people into your ceremony as readers, ring bearers, or through rituals adds a beautiful, personal touch.
I bring warmth, ease, creativity, and a deep love of storytelling to every ceremony. I’m dedicated to delivering a ceremony that reflects who you are and supports you moving into your new life together. With a background in music and performance, I can also enhance your ceremony with singing, playing flute and turning your wedding guests into a pop-up choir!

Hello and thank you for your enquiry.
You may only legally marry once, which you have already done.
However, you may have a ceremony in both your church and your husband's .
These ceremonies will not include the compulsory legal words and you will not have to sign any legal documents.
They will be ceremonies in which you receive the blessings of your particular faiths and will add a lot of meaning and depth to your marriage celebration.
I hope that makes sense and please feel at ease to ask me anymore questions, and congratulations on your marriage!!
kind Regards,
Jo Pierce

Oh Emily, from your first message when you expressed your wish to have a handfasting ceremony, I knew I wanted to be your celebrant. I so wanted to help you bring all your visions to life, and we did it in such a short time! Playing flute for you as you wandered down that beautiful forest path was like something out of a dream. It was a magical wedding for two beautiful people very much in love. Thank you for inviting me to be part of it!
