Is it OK to ask a celebrant to wear a costume at our wedding?
Hello! I've read some responses to celebrants dressing in a matching style etc. Is it rude to ask if they wouldn't mind wearing a costume? I've read somewhere a couple got married by batman and then the obvious Elvis option.. I like the idea of an iconic character and think it would be something to remember but wouldn't want to offend anyone or make it a bad experience. TIA

Some celebrants are easy-going about this - maybe check through their webpage or social media to see if they have shared photos of themselves in different outfits.
I was asked to wear an Abba outfit to a surprise wedding...on Christmas Day. It was hilarious and really added to the fun. However, the outfit was polyester and long-sleeved, and it was very very hot & humid, so not entirely comfortable.
Your ceremony should be a reflection of you and your fiancee - so select a celebrant who will best suit your choices.

You're going to be dealing with this MIL for a long time so it will be easier if you keep her on your side. Ask her for advice on something that's not particularly important to you. I remember my sister's MIL was very overbearing and was very instructing about the care of wedding paper when unwrapping gifts as you were supposed to use the wedding paper to line your drawers. My sister didn't care about that one bit but asked her MIL to help by keeping the paper for her until she got back from her honeymoon. MIL was so happy to help with that, flattened out (ironed) all the paper and made sure all the drawers were lined with wedding wrapping paper, and everyone was happy. Good luck and all the best.
