Originally from eastern England - Essex, to be more specific, Deborah Lilley is a vibrant, modern celebrant with a retro dress collection and two adorable dogs. A self-proclaimed 'film fanatic and secret geek', Deborah would be delighted to chat with you about any way she can add your favourite movie or TV quote to your ceremony. She is so Star Wars crazy that in 2023 Deborah married her partner Bert on May the 4th - 'Star Wars' Day!!

In short, to me, this means that I believe that every person, couple, or family has the right to celebrate their life event in the way that suits them.... regardless of their skin colour, life choices, physical ability, or sexual preferences.
My pronouns are she/her and I am cisgender, what are yours?
However, I wholeheartedly support all humans to be who they are, and I long for the day where they can do this without prejudice or hatred.

The question is, what do you want your Ceremony to be like? How long or short? Formal or fun? Two witnesses or two hundred? Elope in a forest, or a big family event in a wedding venue? Although I obviously have a 'style', and that is one that is fun but with a sense of importance to the occasion, my ceremonies are led by what my couples want... I ask lots of questions about your dreams for the day, and I ask you questions about you as a couple. This way I build a picture of you both, and together we can create a magical ceremony that will exactly suit you as a couple.

I have TWO amazing, professional, and yearly serviced MIPRO speaker systemS. They are both portable and wireless, so I haven't found anywhere that I cannot take it yet! Each system comprises a speaker, a speaker stand, covers in black or white (if needed), a handheld microphone for my couples to use, and a headset microphone that I wear. The system will play your ceremony music Bluetooth from my device, or by plugging in some sort of portable music device of your own. All you have to do is provide the music to me and everything else is covered!
I also have a couple of different signing tables that I can bring along on request if your ceremony location does not provide one, and an array of styling items that I hire out to my couples as part of their package with no extra cost, often saving them some money on hiring these items independently.
If I stay on to MC your reception, this system is also adequate for a small, casual gathering and you can simply create a playlist for your reception.

We recently legally eloped on our ten year wedding anniversary as it was not legal back then for us and Deb was great. She was so helpful and accommodating, from information on how to write vows to making the legal documentation a smooth process. We loved the special touches Deb added to our ceremony, especially a couple of meditation moments to help us be calm and in the moment. Thank you Deb, we couldn't recommend her more 😊

We handed Deborah what seemed an impossible task, calling her the day before the minimum time to get forms done to book in for the next day and request she help us arrange a handfasting ceremony for myself and my partner with an aspect that would include our 4 children and also reflect who we are as people and as a couple avoiding any of the more traditional promises made at weddings .... Not only did she pull this off, she made it seem easy always wearing a smile and happy to chat and work through things. On the day our toddler decided that rather than wait quietly through the ceremony it was much more fun to be pulling petals off her flowers and playing in the dirt, Deborah didn't miss a beat. In amongst all the chaos of planning a wedding while navigating family life Deborah was the calm.

I can not fault Deborah. We wanted something simple and she made it so easy for us by doing all the hard work. All we had to do was fill out a few forms and she was more than happy to attend to any questions or changes we had right up until on the day I headed off for make up and to get dressed. Deb is an amazing celebrant!! She made sure our ceremony was exactly how we wanted it to be, and personalised it all to suit us. She helped with the preparation, kept us on track with paperwork, gave us a perfect ceremony, and then stayed to MC our reception! Do celebrants have a backup celebrant in case of emergencies?

Hello. I was wondering what happens if our celebrant is sick or something happens and they can't come to our wedding on the day? Do they usually have a backup celebrant in mind for this sort of thing? And how does it work with the legal side, would our marriage still be legal if another celebrant performed the ceremony? Thank you!

A good Celebrant will always have a backup plan!!!
In SA some of us have an SOS Facebook chat so we can immediately access other Celebrants in an emergency :)

Is there anyway possible to get married without witnesses

Can you be married without witnesses in the same room. As I have anxiety issues and I don't do very well around other people.

Not in Australia. 
You only need two people, plus your Celebrant, though and can pick family or the people you are most comfortable with. 

Notice of intent of marriage information for temporary resident

Hi Team, I am a temporary resident in Melbourne and my fiance is planning to travel her for the wedding from overseas with a tourist visa for the wedding. Can she send me a scaned notarized signed copy of intent of marriage over email and I print it out for submission to celebrant ? or should she send me a hard copy sent over post the document over to me?.

Either is fine as electronic documents are acceptable. Just make sure that when she signs it the witness is one of those listed on the NOIM.
