Who pays for the Bridal Shower?

Hi Lynda! Great question - and congratulations on planning a fabulous Bridal Shower! The norm in Australia is for each guest to make payment for themselves when attending a hens or bridal shower event. Sometimes the bride-to-be herself pays her per-head cost, and sometimes the bridal party chips in to cover her cost. Also extras such as decorations, a novelty cake, gift bags or invite costs are usually split between the bridal party, or the family of the bride so that she can have those little extra touches on the day! I would recommend always getting a realistic idea of numbers prior to paying your deposit, or perhaps even asking each guest for a small deposit to secure their place, with the final payment due at a later date - as deposit's are often non-refundable and you don't want to be the MOH who has to pay for the guests that may pull out at the last minute! My Ultimate Hens has lots of bridal shower and hens ideas and we would love to help answer any more of your questions - best of luck with your planning! Tash and the My Ultimate Hens team x

I want to have a joint hens and bucks. And ideas on where to hold it and what to do?

The groom and his mates will be going to a zombie vr/escape room during the day, while I get pampered. Then we want to meet up and party! It has to be on a wednesday though, as that's when our overseas bridal party members will be arriving. Any ideas?

That sounds like a great plan so far! We love Hucks parties that meet up later - you both share friends so why not party all together!

Most restaurants are open on a Wednesday and many will have a private room you have use for the night at a fraction of the cost it would be on a Saturday night. You will also find lots of bars that also have a restaurant or bistro (And are therefore open all week) who would love to host your group with a drinks package mid-week - you can usually make some requests for the music or even bring your own playlist so it is 100% about you! Depending on what city you are in you can also look at boats on the harbour or the river that you can charter for just your group! Some cinemas will let you hire out a full cinema for your own VIP space or, depending on the weather, you could arrange your own picnic and outdoor party!

So many options are available and being mid-week can be great for pricing & availability! Best of luck! xx

is a bali hens night a little over the top?? am i asking too much of my bridesmaids?

This is definmitely a discussion to have with a few different people where you need to be really clear on your expectations. Talk to your Fiancee, talk to the Bridesmaids and talk to the people that you NEED to have at your Hens Party - are you really close to your Mum and can't imagine celebrating without her? The most important questions to answer would be:

  • Who will pay for what? Are you going to pay for yourself? Will you or the Bridesmaids subsidise anything as a gift or will every person pay their own way?
  • Who do you really want to be there? Bridesmaids, Sisters, Mum, Crazy Aunty Jane... Can they all get time off work? Can they all afford it?
  • Will anyone very important not be able to attend if you go overseas and will you be disappointed if you can't share this with them?
  • How long do you want to go for & what would you like to to do while there?
  • What are the Bucks doing? Do they also want to go away and, if so, can the couples involved afford both?

If you have had this discussion with all the important people and everyone is happy with the answers then GO FOR IT! Live it up and celebrate your Final Fling Before The Ring in whatever style makes you happy!

If there is any hesitation then why not look at a big bash a little closer to home? Plan a weekend away with lots of activities, cocktails, eye candy and sparkle! Celebrate with your Besties and most importantly, have an AMAZING time no matter what you do!

Happy Planning! xx

do i choose who attends my hens? or is it the bridesmaid who plans it

Great Question!! The Bridemaids are traditionally responsible for actually inviting the guests but the Bride definitely has a say in who's coming along to her special celebration!! Our best suggestion is to grab some bubbly & have a girls night to put ideas together, come up with a guest list & have lots of giggles looking at Hens Packages that sound like fun!

do you think having male strippers at my hens is cheating?

unsure whether or not to let my friends go ahead with planning this since it might hurt my hubby2be's feelings

This is a good conversation to have with your Fiancee! Seeing a stripper is not cheating to most people but you aren't marrying most people, so its important to get the answer straight between you as a couple before the party day! Maybe having a stripper is fine, but touching is not - boundaries are important in every relationship after all!

Strippers at Hens parties are more about the giggles and squealing than about something seriously sexual and there is usually no intent involved so you should be fine. If you or your future Hubby are not comfortable though then I'm sure you wont miss it - chat to your ladies and tell them how you and your Fiancee feel about it & ask them to respect your wishes.

Just remember though - if it's good for the Goose, it's good for the Gander so also ask what the plan is for the Bucks Party! :P

do i have to invite all the women from the hens night to my wedding?

Great Question! The simple answer is to do what you want to do! In Traditional (formal) etiquette, everyone at the Hens party would also be at the wedding but Hens Parties have come a long way since then. Many Couples are aiming for more intimate weddings now and simply don't have room on the invite list for Jan in accounts that you have lunch with on Wednesday's! What about a friend who is new to you since you sent your wedding invites? Let's face it - lots can happen in the wait between invites prepared & the wedding day! Also, if you are having a wedding away overseas or out of town this can often be the best way to include your wider circle of friends too!

It is important that you have the opportunity to celebrate with everyone you would like to of course, so the Hens Party can be a great opportunity for this! It is crucial to manage everyone's expectations from the outset though, to ensure there is no confusion. Send a handwritten note with their Hens Party invite saying that you would love the opportunity to share your final fling with them, even though you are having a small/out of town (*Insert valid reason here*) wedding & can't wait to catch up for dinner/coffee/drinks after the wedding too!

Only you know your friends & your situation. Be honest & upfront with those friends that aren't invited to the wedding and be prepared that some people may not choose to attend. Those that do, though, will love you for the inclusion!

HELP i need some combined hens and bucks night ideas (no nudity)

The Hucks Party is definitely a great idea to make sure everyone parties with all their friends - including their significant other!! Some fun activities that we can help with would be things like a luxury yacht cruise, pizza making challenge, jet boat rides, hummer tours, VIP Area in a nightclub with drinks, spirits masterclasses, a day out at the wineries, sushi rolling classes, party boat cruise with buffet and beverages, barefoot bowls and everything in between! We specialise in Hens Parties and Bucks parties so are always happy to help bridge the gap! Happy planning! xx

what am i supposed to wear to my hens night?

The short answer is, whatever makes you happy!! Depending on what your ladies are doing you should wear something fabulous and appropriate - PJ's to a slumber party, cocktail dress to drinks & dancing or closed toe shoes to quad biking! This is your party Sunshine so wear what makes you feel stunning, comfortable and the centre of attention! Have fun! xx

How much should i expect to pay for my part of the hens night?

I'm a bridesmaid...

What a tricky Question! The short answer is, as much as you and your ladies think is reasonable in line with what the activities you all have in mind cost! Hens parties with us range from $69 per person through to hundreds of dollars each for some of our huge weekend celebrations. The best idea is to grab a bottle of bubbly and sit down with the Bride and the Bridal Party to talk about what you would like to do, who is invited, when you would like to celebrate and if there is a budget you all have in mind. You can then use these details as guidelines to arrange the perfect Hens Party! Good luck & happy planning! xx

Ideas please - we are wanting to do a combined hucks party

I'm thinking girls day then Hucks night, but we have no ideas two bridesmaids are 17 what to do for girls day? It will be 8-10 girls and boys day will be 6-10 we are not into strippers or high teas please help. Thank you

A Hucks is a great way to celebrate your upcoming wedding with all your friends and loved ones without missing out on catching up with anyone! We have lots of packages on both our Hens & Bucks websites that will work for a mixed group and can also personalise something with a bit of everything! We arranged a Hucks for a group just today who planned paintball in the afternoon (matching tutu's for the Hen & Buck - what a photo opportunity!) followed by a Dinner in the city with free flowing drinks and a Hummer ride. That's just one idea and we have heaps more! Give us a call and we can customise something perfect for your Ladies Day (Like a Spa day, cooking challenge or even professional photo shoot!) & Boys Day Out (Like paintball, jet boating or lots more!) then bring you all together for a fantastic night on the town. Can't wait to chat soon!

I don't want a trashy hens, but I suspect thats whats being organised for me..

Ive always wanted a quiet brunch with girlfriends, but Ive heard that my sister in law is planning a trashy hens complete with stripper... this really isn't what I want, but how do I tell her to change everything when its probably already paid for?

Hi Sophia! That can be very tricky Hun and we completely understand your position. It is important to remember that your Sister-in-law has your best interests at heart - even if she does miss the mark a little. The best advice we have for you is to communicate with her, catch up over a coffee or a cocktail and have a chat about what is most important to you and what you dream of! If we can help at all just take a look through our website and we can send you some information about one of our classy packages! Best of luck talking to her about it Hun - just don't forget that she wants you to be happy too! xx
