July 2026
From the beginning, communication was disappointing. Responses often took weeks, and instead of improving as the wedding got closer, they became even less frequent. As a bride, the final few weeks before your wedding are when timely communication and reassurance are needed most. Or simply acknowledging an email is received. Our first meeting started late because Luke arrived late, leaving us waiting. We had already left work early and rushed there after work because weekday meetings were the only option. It wasn't the best first impression. In the month leading up to the wedding, I found myself repeatedly following up by email and message, hoping for a response. The uncertainty created a great deal of unnecessary stress during what should have been an exciting time. One of the hardest parts was knowing Luke was responding to some of our other vendors while my own emails went unanswered. After not receiving a response from him for around three weeks, with our wedding only days away, some of our vendors reached out themselves to try to obtain the information they needed and to help put my mind at ease. Knowing he was responding to them while I still wasn't receiving a reply, despite being his client, was quite disheartening. The ceremony itself was lovely. Luke shared our love story beautifully, and we were very happy with that part of the day. However, the reception didn't deliver the personalised MC experience we had expected. Luke's website mentions that there are "no double-ups in scripts throughout the whole day," and we also completed a detailed questionnaire through his client portal with information such as our special song, our pet peeves, interesting facts about us, and special guests we wanted acknowledged. We were looking forward to those details being incorporated into the reception. Instead, the MC role was largely limited to introducing each person who was speaking before moving on to the next part of the evening. None of the information we had provided appeared to be used, which was disappointing and left us wondering why we had been asked to complete such a detailed questionnaire. By the final days before our wedding, everything had been paid for, so changing suppliers wasn't a realistic option. It left us feeling like we simply had to hope everything would come together. Good communication is such an important part of the service couples are paying for, particularly in the lead-up to a wedding. While we were happy with the ceremony itself, the ongoing communication issues and the reception MC experience meant the overall service didn't meet the expectations we had based on what was advertised.
