July 2021

When you engage a Bridal Seamstress who has been in the industry for 30 years, and pay thousands of dollars for a “one of a kind” wedding gown, there are reasonable expectations… Having the gown created in a cheaper fabric first, usually calico, with all major alterations made to this dress as it would form the pattern pieces for the gown. All creased fabric for the gown would be ironed prior to being cut, to ensure the size, style and drop of the fabric is accurate and alterations are kept to a minimum. Just the bodice was made in calico, adjustments were noted, but we did not have a second fitting with the calico bodice to check the alterations were correct and they weren’t. The remainder of the dress was cut straight from un-ironed fabric, including lace we bought in from France which was disastrous. Nothing but a nightmare experience.
