We were very happy with the catering - the package they resort provided was lavish (Silver). The hor-d'oeuvres were great and the sit down meal for 110 was handled perfectly - timing was great and the food was good. We went and tasted the menu at the Resort beforehand and then adapted our menu to our needs - nothing was off the table . They were the same about the wine - everything they could let us choose was available. No being put into a rigid menu and wine list.

Half our guests came from out of town and all stayed at the wedding venue. They were universally complimentary about the resort and its surroundings and the service and attentiveness of staff. From an organisation point of view they were easy to deal with with a special discount and promotion rate and booking reference to make things easy.

I couldn't have been more disappointed at the service from this allegedly 5 star property. Having prepared them for our timetable and the fact that we were leaving the hotel at a certain time (the female bridal party) and wanted the room cleaned for us to return for our wedding night, I found the bathroom filthy, the bedcovers cursorily pulled up and over all we didn't have the suite properly serviced in the two nights I was there. When I commented how disappointed I was that there was still hair and makeup in the basin on the second morning I was offered the room serving policy to read. I have complained in writing but have received no reply.

As mentioned in Catering and Accommodation, Allan at Ballina Beach Resort and his team managed everything and were very flexible. They are professionals and know what needs to happen and when. They kept me informed and gave good advice about the amount to budget for drinks - whether to go with a package or set a price etc. All good advice. WE were well looked after and everyone had a good time. There was one table seating hitch (my fault) which they handled very diplomatically as well.

all I can say is Vanuatu is a dream and the resort heavenly. It's only a 2.5 hour flight from Brisbane and the best location you could dream of. 35 minutes from the airport, small, intimate (only couples), fabulous snorkelling, sailing, kayaking and doing nothing all included. Staff are so friendly and attentive. The food good (Australian food and wine prices) and very plentiful.
