Wedding of the Year: Shae & Rob win June

Shae & Rob’s Italian garden wedding at Nonna’s has won our June Wedding of the Year competition.

The Melbourne newlyweds have won a $1000 Michael Hill voucher and a spot in our Top 12 to vie for a luxe honeymoon at InterContinental Fiji flying business class with Fiji Airways.

Shae and Rob’s celebration of 10 years of love was a truly family affair, inspired by the huge and crazy Italian dinners they often enjoyed at Rob’s Nonna’s place. “We wanted a very homely, family-style wedding,” explains Shae. So when Nonna offered to host the reception in her backyard, plans for an Italian garden wedding sprang to life.

But Shae admits it took a while to “find her feet” with the rest of the wedding planning. “I had never thought about what kind of wedding I wanted,” she says. “I had nothing planned, no ideas, no scrapbook of wedding cutouts.”

She could have fooled us!

From the ridiculously charming ceremony venue at Dalywaters Rose Farm on the Mornington Peninsula, to her soft floral arrangements that tied in meticulously with the bridesmaids’ pastel print maxi dresses; all set against a classic black tie look for Rob and his crew, the romantic spring soiree came together seemingly effortlessly, as captured in the dreamy photos by Jeph Chen.

Thank you so much to the other eight June nominees whose beautiful weddings continue to make us all a bit giddy.

Here’s a recap of some of our favourite winning photos. See the full story here.
