Surprises are part of the package when planning your wedding, but Kate Adams and Daniel Barclay were dropped an extra special bombshell.
“So, there I was; a pregnant bride, something I didn’t exactly plan on, and organising a wedding,” smiles Kate. But the Sydney pair took the exciting news in their stride and decided a simple wedding sooner rather than later was the way to go. “It all came together in a month; something that we both agreed was a sign that it was meant to be,” says Kate.
And besides, the couple had already been on a honeymoon – having ventured to Europe shortly after their engagement in what they termed “the honeymoon before the wedding.”
Kate, 29, and Daniel, 41, married at their waterside wedding on October 31, 2015 surrounded by 90 guests. Their ceremony at Hodgson’s Lookout in Kurraba Point was followed by a reception at Middle Harbour Yacht Club. “From my father not being able to hold it together walking me down the aisle, to our wedding photos at Balmoral – where we had our first date – our day was filled with meaningful touches,” explains Kate.
“Knowing also that we had our little boy or girl with us when we said ‘I do’ just made it all the more special – I even got a few sneaky kicks during the signing of our registry,” smiles Kate.

The TIffany Rose elegant maternity gown “fitted perfectly over my bump,” according to the bride.
“Our story is a wonderful example that everything happens for a reason, and you’ve got to be in the right place at the right time,” says Kate.
