Special memories at Nicole & Simon’s country wedding

A tragedy while on honeymoon hasn’t spoiled Nicole Warren and Simon Klasen’s memories of their wedding, in fact, it’s made them more important.

East Maitland pair Nicole, 27, and Simon, 34, discovered they were pregnant just before the hens’ party.

“We decided at 11 weeks we would announce our very exciting news knowing that all of our guests would be just as excited as we were,” Nicole says.

However, tragedy struck while they were on honeymoon when Nicole miscarried.

“I got to enjoy the wedding and then enjoy the honeymoon as best we could, giving us plenty of time to grieve before coming back to reality,” she says.

“We may not have been able to meet bub but will always have photos of the best day of our lives with our first member of our little family.”

Nicole says it made their country wedding, in her hometown Little Hartley, NSW, even more special.

The pair wed on November 8, 2014, in front of 140 friends and family at Collits Inn.

“The venue was an absolutely amazing, family-run business,” Nicole says.

“Our wedding was a big party with all of our friends and family – we didn’t have to spend ridiculous amounts of money – it was just perfect.”
