Sharing a sneaky snack at a mutual friend’s birthday party sowed the seeds of love for Monika Pieczonka and Josh Hardy.
“We spent the night getting to know each other,” Monika, 26, recalls.
“At one point during the evening Josh pulled out a small bag of sunflower seeds from his
pocket. Initially I was rather confused however I soon found out that they are actually a great healthy snack! We still have a giggle about that now nearly eight years later.”
Josh, 28, popped the question at the couple’s favourite spot by the river and Monika says the couple enjoyed a two-year engagement before their Eagle Ridge wedding.
The picturesque golf club on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula was the first and last venue they looked at. “The minute we stepped out onto those stunning steps we knew that was the place we wanted to say ‘I do’,” Monika says.
The Melbourne couple wed on March 18, 2017 in front of 70 friends and family.
“Our ceremony was personalised by us including a poem and custom vows. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight,” the bride recalls.
Celebrations continued at the same venue, which had been styled by Monika, her mother and the bridesmaids, with touches of blush, gold and navy blue.
“We stayed true to our own style and worked together to make our dream come true,” Monika says.

Josh and his groomsmen wore classic three-piece suits from Ferrari Formalwear & Bridal.
Monika was a princess for a day in her Allure Bridals ballgown dress, matched with accessories from Bevilles. The bride and her besties had their hair and make-up done by the talented team at Runway Room.
“We couldn’t imagine being more in love if we tried and we truly believe that this is just the beginning of our love story. We are loving being Mr and Mrs Hardy!” Monika says.
As well as the groom and groomsmen, Ferrari Formalwear & Bridal was a one-stop shop for Monika and her maids. “The girls looked stunning in their floor length navy blue dresses which contrasted nicely against the blush and white roses in their bouquets,” says Monika.
“I honestly loved the wedding planning process and all the crazy and exciting things that go with it,” Monika says. “My biggest piece of advice would be if you find something you love, just buy it and don’t put it off.”
Guests were treated to a three-tier buttercream cake decorated with blush and white roses from Cakes by Sue.
The pair were lucky enough to win their wedding photography by DOUX Wedding Corp. in a competition! “Alvin went above and beyond… we cherish the beautiful photos he created.”
