Modern vintage wedding follows first kiss: Eleni & Greg

A first kiss wasn’t quite the spark to ignite a relationship between Eleni Demetriou and Gregory Kalligeros, but after remaining friends, they later decided to give things a go.

“We kept it on the down low for a while of course,” says Eleni, who shares mutual friends with Greg. “But being in a relationship with my best friend ended up being the best feeling in the world.”

They were married with a modern vintage wedding on July 5, 2014 at St George Greek Orthodox Church, South Brisbane, followed by a reception at The Greek Club. “Our wedding day was the best day of our lives filled with love, laughter, lots of crazy fun memories,” smiles Eleni, who wore a Steven Khalil gown. “My mum, aunty, sister and I absolutely fell in love with Steven. He took time to get to know all of us – he even asked my mum and aunty about their vintage wedding dresses.”

Eleni says while her hubby Greg considers himself a “tough guy”, she knows underneath that’s all for show. “My family have come to love him the way I do for his charming ways,” praises Eleni. “He never ceases to surprise me with his gentleness and sensitivity.”

The pair honeymooned in Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Paris.

Eleni says she and Greg are very happy with the wedding photos which “portrayed exactly how we felt on the day”.

“Don’t stress too much, everything falls into place on the day,” Eleni says to brides to be.

The couple’s impressive four-tier wedding cake was by Frosted Indulgence.
