“Our little wedding” is how bride Gosia Gajewska describes her intimate wedding with partner Samuel Chapman.
The Melbourne couple, 31 and 32 respectively, opted for simple and small, inviting 40 guests to Malvern Valley Receptions. “All we knew was we wanted to celebrate this special day of becoming a family with our loved ones,” says Gosia.
The day was made extra memorable with Gosia’s Polish family making the trek from overseas to attend. “My family made their way from as far as Poland – my dad was the biggest surprise as he’s not a traveller and only feels comfortable in his own home or in the garden,” smiles Gosia. “My parents don’t speak English but by the end of the night (and enough Polish vodkas), everyone spoke the same language.”
Simple touches on the day helped to create a celebratory atmosphere with little effort. Gosia had chosen her flowers a month prior, stumbling across a boutique florist on Melbourne’s Chapel Street. “I took a photo of one of the bouquets and asked the owner to create similar for our wedding tables,” she describes. The bridal bouquet was created with baby’s breath and brown string.
“Our little wedding was all about celebration of creating a family, love, friendship and new beginnings,” beams Gosia.
Malvern Valley Receptions, with its amazing views and greenery, was chosen on a whim by the couple. “We walked in and decided – this is it.”
Gosia’s Anna Campbell dress was “meant to be”. She had first noticed her designs while living in London then stumbled across the boutique once back in Australia.
Gosia decorated her wedding with rustic touches including large table numbers, baby’s breath and wooden menu holders.
