Forest meets beach: Keirra and Andrew's Breakwater Bar & Restaurant wedding

For their or their October 1, 2022, wedding for 75 guests. Kierra and Andrew aimed to reflect their love of the coast. Breakwater Bar & Restaurant was an inspired choice for the couple who wanted a laidback yet polished celebration.

“I’ve always loved the water and being by the beach… but I also envisioned elements of the forest in our wedding aesthetic,” explains Kierra. “We decided to have our wedding at the beach and incorporated earthy sage and brown tones to evoke a woodland vibe”

Kierra opted for a romantic and modern dress with delicate lace and a fitted silhouette for her wedding to Andrew. Breakwater Bar & Restaurant’s front lawn area provided the ideal waterfront location for the ceremony. Under an understated timber arbour decorated with crisp white blooms and lush greenery, the pair exchanged personal vows.

After the ceremony, the couple were warmly congratulated by their loved ones. Photographer Alyce Holzy slipped the couple away for some romantic beach portraiture and family photos. “Alyce was a really lovely presence on the day and made us feel very comfortable,” says Keirra.

The party flowed on seamlessly from the formalities. “We wanted a very relaxed, ‘go-with-the-flow’ type of wedding,” says Keirra of the celebration. “Andrew and I have very easygoing and laidback personalities. We just wanted our wedding day to be very comfortable and just to have an amazing time with our guests.”

Guests enjoyed a buffet-style feast catered by the team at Breakwater Bar & Restaurant, a cake baked by a family friend, and liberally flowing champagne by the water. The happy couple danced to an eclectic mix of their favourite tunes as the night progressed. “We wouldn’t change a thing,” says Kierra. “We would do everything the exact same. We had an amazing day and night!”
