Bushfires sweeping through the area where you planned to be married isn’t the best news weeks before the big day.
But lucky for Nicole Beaumont and David Furniss who were to marry on January 17, 2015, the Golding Winery in Lobethal, SA, was given the all clear in time for them to wed. The two, both aged 26, met in high school and began dating before Nicole turned sweet 16. Seven years later they were engaged.
Their vineyard wedding boasted close to 100 guests and a cooler summer’s day of 25 degrees. “It was the pick of the month, with the bushfires going close to the property only two weeks before,” explains Nicole. “We had an amazing band playing, Alice and the Wonderlands out in the courtyard, while our guests ate wood-fired pizza, drank wine and relaxed in the gorgeous setting before heading into the old-style stone barn for the reception.”
Their photographer Dan Evans says it was a close call leading up to the day. “Despite the closure of Golding’s weeks prior due to the terrible fires, we were blessed to find that they had been contained and suppressed.” He says the Adelaide Hills wedding was an “absolute ball”.
