The bush met the city at Lucy and Blake’s elegant country wedding.

The couple call Kalgoorlie home, but decided to head towards the bright lights of the city for their March 4, 2018 celebrations in the Perth hills.

Lucy, 31, says the day was proof that you don’t need to be in the same city as your vendors to pull off an amazing wedding.

She and Blake, 32, joined by their young son and 80 guests, walked down the aisle at Darlington Estate Winery.

“Our style was Australian bush/rustic meets magical evening. Darlington brings the outside in with trees growing through the restaurant and fairy lights above which we complemented with flowers and greenery mixed with Australian natives,” Lucy says.

“Memorable moments included our son crying, ‘Mummy, mummy, mummy’ all the way down the aisle desperate to go back to me, and my father cheekily including in his speech the voice mail of Blake asking him if he could marry me!”

“It was a wonderful day and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Creative Edge Weddings did all our flowers and reception decor. The flowers were so beautiful. They fit the theme perfectly,” Lucy says.

Blake and his groomsmen were casual but cool in their suits from Roger David.

“Blake is a mechanic in the mines and I am a lawyer in town so we are often separated, which made planning more challenging especially since we had decided to get married in Perth but I found the internet and Easy Weddings an amazing resource,” Lucy says.

The couple’s wedding cake was classic on one side, and a homage to West Australian beer Emu Export on the other.

“Blake and I met during the Kalgoorlie Raceround – at a rodeo, which was very fitting as we both were involved with horses but had never crossed paths. Five years later still living in Kalgoorlie, with the help of our one-year-old son, Blake proposed pretending it was a belated 30th present,” Lucy says.
