Brilliant in black and white: Victoria and Luke’s classic wedding

Victoria and Luke’s classic wedding became a weekend-long celebration thanks to their elegant resort venue.

“We chose Joondalup Resort (in Western Australia) as we wanted a venue where our ceremony and reception could be held in the same place, our guests could have beautiful accommodation and we could have a wedding breakfast together the next day,” Victoria, 26, says.

The couple kept it classic with a black and white theme throughout their April 13 celebrations, including stationery designed and handmade by the bride.

“Our ceremony was personalised by Luke Firth , his words showed that our marriage was an opportunity to celebrate our and devotion to each other, and deepen our ultimate commitment of honesty, trust and teamwork,” Victoria says.

She and Luke surprised their 100 guests and each other with secret vows they had prepared that shared personal jokes and stories.

Attention to detail was a point of focus for the wedding planning, and Victoria says food and music were the most important elements they wanted to get right.

“The perfect mix of traditional elegance with a party vibe,” she says.

“The live band kept the dance floor full all night and the amazing food is still being talked about. The guests had beautiful accommodation to stay in and the hangover favour kits proved very useful at the wedding breakfast.”

“Focus on two or three big things that you definitely want for the day then don’t sweat the other stuff, it’ll all fall into place,” Victoria says. “Enjoy the time with your friends and family, it is such a special day to be able to share altogether.”

Victoria and Luke were together for nine years before their classic wedding. “We met through our parents and had spent lots of time travelling and building a house before Luke proposed,” the bride says.

“The wedding party had the chance to drive around the estate on golf carts, which was a lot of fun,” Victoria says of capturing their wedding photos with Steve Hughes Photography.

Del’s Cake Designs created an elegant black and white cake in keeping with the day’s theme.
