Are you waiting for couples to email you after their wedding to say thank you? You could be leaving a chance for your business to grow. We explore the difference between being pushy and being inquisitive, and how to nail the review window and get your business always repping 5-stars.

In the wedding industry, we know that trust has become a conversion tool. Without the ability to rely on repeat business, word of mouth becomes your free marketing. Our marketplace data shows that crossing specific review milestones can drastically affect your storefront’s bookings.

  • Moving from a blank profile to 11+ verified reviews increases your storefront conversion performance by up to 200%.
  • Crossing the 40-review mark pushes your visibility and incoming inquiry rates up by a massive 300%

Getting these reviews does require a strategy. If you ask too early, you could be pushing them during peak wedding stress or in their golden hours. If you leave it too late, the post-wedding high has worn off, and the couple has moved on from the wedding into wedded bliss.

So, how do you maximise your response rate? We look at the three high-conversion windows to best reach out to your couples and get not only reviews, but 5-star ones.

Window 1: The 48-hour delivery (leverage ‘thank you’)

  • Best for: Planners, coordinators, venues, and entertainers.
  • Why it works: It’s 48 hours after the wedding. The couple is experiencing a massive dopamine hit, spending time pouring over guest phone photos, talking about their favourite moments, feeling immensely grateful to all the people that pulled off their ‘dream day’.

The strategy: Don’t send a formal invoice or a cold link yet. Send a warm, high-energy text or brief email thanking them for being incredible to work with. Put the spotlight on their energy, and slide the review link right into that emotional peak.

The 48-Hour Script:

“Hey [Name], we are still buzzing from Saturday night! You two looked absolutely spectacular, and your dance floor was legendary. We loved being part of your day. While the magic is still fresh, could you do us a quick 2-minute favour? Future couples rely heavily on reviews to find their dream team—could you leave us a quick 5-star review on our Easy Weddings profile? Here is our direct link: [INSERT URL]. Thank you both so much!”

Window 2: The sneak peek drop

  • Best for: Photographers, videographers, content creators, hair and makeup artists.
  • Why it works: Two weeks after the wedding, reality has kicked in. The honeymoon might be starting, or it could be ending. The couple is desperate for that hit of wedding nostalgia as the small details drop off their memory. This is exactly when photographers and videographers should slide in with sneak-peek galleries.

The strategy: Leverage your value assets. Do not just deliver the sneak peek photos and say, “enjoy.” Your preview gallery is your ultimate leverage point. Frame the delivery of these premium visual assets with your request.

The hook: Money is a massive drawcard, particularly for newlyweds. Remind them that by leaving a review on Easy Weddings, they’re automatically entering into our quarterly draw to win a $2,500 cash prize. You aren’t just asking for a favour; you’re offering a financial incentive to help fund their new life.

Window 3: The 6-week return online

  • Best for: All suppliers (as a systematic follow-up).
  • Why it works: Sending a single request usually yields a 20% response rate. Sending a strategic second follow-up increases your total response rate to over 33%. Six to eight weeks post-wedding is the sweet spot; they are completely settled back into regular life and have the mental bandwidth to write a thoughtful response. (Source: Survey Monkey).

The strategy: Use your WedXM Dashboard to automate or track this touchpoint. Keep it casual, check in on how married life is treating them, and explicitly call out the $2,500 cash prize draw to cut through their procrastination.
