Tips for every bride that nobody will tell you (except us!)
Getting married? No doubt you’ve been told every piece of information imaginable. Some interesting, others a little contradictory. We’ve got the real tips. The ones that nobody will tell you. So here they are, the tips every bride needs to hear: the honest, underrated, absolutely essential tips every bride needs to hear.
You’re welcome.
Here are our tips to you. Source: Studio Towski.
Take time out with your husband/partner – actually schedule it
The day moves fast. Like, blink your eye and it’s last call fast. One minute you’re saying “I do”, then you’re hugging, posing, and maybe remembering to eat something.
But here’s a secret that no one tells you: steal 10 minutes with your partner alone. Slip away during photos or cocktail hour, duck into a quiet corner. It’s here you can hold hands, take a breath, and say to each other. “We did it”.
Start your skincare weeks (if not months) in advance
Your wedding makeup is certainly important, but having a glowing base is a great place to start. For the makeup, but also for your self-confidence. Our advice? Start your prep early, there is not point in a facial two weeks out if you haven’t been staying on top of your routine prior to this.
A few months out:
- Hydrate like it’s your new hobby
- Go gentle with active skincare (no experimenting two weeks before!)
- Book any facials or skin treatments with plenty of buffer time
- If you’re prone to breakouts, start a simple, consistent routine
A week before:
- Sleep well
- Ease off the wine (sorry!)
- Moisturise like your life depends on it
- STAY HYDRATED

Wear in your shoes
We’ve all seen the vision of girls after a long day at the races or a big day out carrying their heels in hand as their feet need a break. Whether it be from blisters or the height itself, the old saying “beauty knows no pain” couldn’t be more apt here. So, if you’re wanting to bypass the pain and just find the pleasure, you’re going to need to give those babies a few test runs.
Find yourself doing laundry, making coffee, or scrolling TikTok in your wedding shoes. Your feet will thank you.

Eat something before the ceremony
Look, we get it! Nerves, excitement, time flying by at seemingly increased speed but if you’re getting married in the heat with a glass of champagne, you’re going to need a little snack. Like… a real snack! A few berries do not make a real snack! Protein, carbs. Start the day with some eggs on toast, a bit of avocado.
Build Your Own emergency kit
Oh, you don’t want to be caught out without being prepared. And we mean like Scouts Honour, be overprepared! Period not due? Doesn’t matter! Bring along some sanitary products. Band-Aids, deodorant, tissues, mints, a tiny sewing kit. What is your specific chaos point? Prepare for it! Your future self will applaud you.
Pack your emergency kit and don’t forget the essentials!
Don’t rush your morning
Go to bed early the night before and give yourself plenty of time in the morning. We recommend getting up early and enjoying yourself. A light, calming yoga session (like this Yoga with Adrienne routine!) Getting ready sets the tone for your whole day.
Put on good music, light a candle, drink water, and only surround yourself with people who keep you calm and happy.
Give your phone to someone else
You don’t need notifications, group chats, or location requests buzzing in your hand. Your maid of honour, sister, or bestie can be the official phone holder. Your job is to glow!
Relinquish control
This one is really tough, particularly for Type A brides. All the planning, preparation, and the time leading up to your wedding is done now. Whatever will be, will be.
Maybe a flower falls off your bouquet. Maybe someone mispronounces a name. Maybe it rains, or the flower girl steals the show, or your veil gets caught in a door.
Guess what? Those are the stories you’ll laugh about forever.
