If you’re feeling a little stressed about having to plan your wedding in a few months or, 20.4 months, which is the average length of an engagement, spare a thought for American bride Lucy Taylor who pulled off her entire wedding in just 10 days.
“My fiance and I had been engaged for about a year and a half,” Lucy told friends on social media site reddit.
“This is much, much longer than we had planned (so), after attending an out of town wedding, we decided a big, ‘formal’ wedding was just not for us, We decided that 10 days was plenty enough for us to plan our picture perfect wedding.”
And, with lots of hard work, plenty of friends and family pitching in – and a healthy dose of courage, Lucy and her hubby-to-be arranged the entire affair, right down to the handmade cake toppers, in just a week and a half.
Despite the short notice, about 100 of their friends and family were still able to attend their garden nuptials and even her Matron of Honour, who was almost nine months pregnant, rose to the challenge and performed her bridesmaid duties perfectly.
Thankfully, the couple had already picked out the rings, dress and photographer within two months of becoming engaged, so they didn’t have to worry about those all-important features of their big day.
“We called our family and closest friends and sent out social media invites to others. I have a very gifted and artistic family who pitched in to make decorations and my mother made the flower girl tutus as well as bouquets from her garden.
“My husband was previously in a wedding with his best man, in which they purchased their suits. They both wore the same suits from the previous wedding, just changed a bit (suspenders and bow ties) to match my colors.”
The couple held their wedding in a local park and held a massive barbecue. Friends and family pitched in with finger food and, says Lucy, “It was hectic. It was chaotic. It was a blur. And overall, it was absolutely perfect for us!”
