As someone who makes a living performing daredevil stunts, it’s little wonder Ethen Roberts, from MTV’s action sports show Nitro Circus, chose an ‘extreme’ location for his wedding photos. And, yes, he brought along his motorbike!
The incredible pictures, shot by American photographer Tony Gambino, may look like they were taken in an icy desert tundra, but they were actually shot in the middle of the Bonneville Salt Flats in the Utah, US, which is where many world record land speed events are held.
Once lush lake beds, Bonneville’s salt flats grew into thick masses of flat land that are saturated in layers of coarse white salt and minerals left over from large bodies of water that have dried up over thousands of years – and the results look like a martian landscape.
Roberts’ wedding photos have an other-worldly essence, and his bride’s jet-black hair contrasts beautifully against the brilliant white surfaces surrounding the couple.
In some photos it appears as if they are standing on glass, as certain areas of the landscape are saturated with thin layers of water.
The temptation appeared too great for the BMX bike rider who can be seen taking his new bride for ride along the salty plains.
Choosing special locations or having a destination wedding can provide the perfect backdrop for sensational wedding photos, and can create moments that are visually unforgettable.
