Handcrafted with love: A wedding ring masterclass with Larsen Jewellery
Planning a wedding is exciting… until it starts to feel like a never-ending to-do list. Between tableware choices, seating charts, and budgeting spreadsheets, the romance can get lost in the logistics. If you’re feeling the fatigue, it might be time to hit pause and reconnect with something meaningful.
Enter Larsen Jewellery’s wedding ring masterclass: an intimate, hands-on experience where you and your partner can design and craft your own rings in a private atelier, guided by an expert jeweller. It’s a creative way to spend quality time together (and yes, the rings are professionally finished and truly one-of-a-kind).
We sat down with Kate from Larsen Jewellery to find out what makes this exclusive experience so unforgettable for soon-to-be-wed couples.

Larsen Jewellery was founded by husband and wife Lars and Susie Larsen, with one clear mission: to offer high-quality and ethically made jewellery directly from the studio. “Lars and Susie had the big idea while travelling in Europe,” Kate shares with us.
Led by an entrepreneurial spirit, the couple identified a gap in the Australian market and developed the first studio offering a personalised ring-making experience.
18 years later, Larsen Jewellery now operates from three main studios in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, providing masterclasses in wedding ring creations.
Have you ever wanted to make your own wedding ring? Now you can.

Your wedding ring masterclass begins with a design session; it’s the perfect time to pull up your Pinterest board and explore your ideas. You’ll try on sample rings, discuss band width and profiles, and decide between yellow gold, white gold, or platinum. Here, the team will share their recommendations and measure your finger sizes.
Once the design is finalised, you’ll receive an estimated quote for the rings. Then, you’ll schedule a date for your wedding ring making masterclass.

Guided by an expert jeweller, you’ll shape, solder, and polish your rings by hand (with gentle help when needed). From the first bend of metal to the final polish, every mark is yours, and many couples say it’s the most meaningful part of their entire wedding journey.
“When people get to the final step of the workshop, they often go: ‘Oh my God, I’ve made real jewellery!’ It’s heartwarming to see their faces light up with a sense of accomplishment,” says Kate.
The session unfolds over five unhurried hours, with a relaxed lunch break in the middle of it all: think bottles of red, good food, and a moment to savour the day together.
As a meaningful gesture, many couples choose to swap roles and make each other’s rings.
A love letter in every detail
There are plenty of ways to make your wedding bands feel even more special.
“For an extra personal touch, some couples would add fingerprint engravings or words like ‘forever yours’ and ‘made with love’. Ideally, we keep it to 4-5 words max,” Kate adds.
Planning to include a diamond or heirloom stone? Your jeweller will step in to set it professionally. Just keep in mind: all stones must be assessed ahead of time by the Larsen team, and any custom design features (such as diamond settings or hand engravings) will require up to four additional weeks for completion.

You don’t need steady hands or a background in metalsmithing to create something beautiful. On the day of your workshop, a dedicated Larsen jeweller will guide you through every step, offering gentle support while letting you take the reins.
Literally. From heating and shaping to soldering and polishing, you’ll use professional tools like ring mandrels, torches, files, and buffing wheels to bring your rings to life.
Rest assured, “The rings turn out flawless, as if they were made by professional jewellers,” Kate says. “It’s completely beginner-friendly, and we’re always there to help shape, refine, and make sure every detail is just right.”
The jewellers will make sure everything looks good before moving on to the next step.”
Behind the scenes
For Sophie Delezio and her fiancé, the wedding bands were never just rings: they were a symbol of the next chapter in their love story. Designing them with Larsen Jewellery made the experience even more meaningful.
Rather than selecting ready-made pieces, the pair took part in Larsen’s signature workshop experience, crafting the rings themselves.

Bookings fill up fast, so lock in your spot
When it comes to wedding planning, it’s best to implement ‘the sooner, the better’ approach, especially for your rings. At Larsen Jewellery, couples typically come in for the design appointment, then return to make the rings two months later. The time in between becomes part of the journey: space to dream, reflect, and look forward to crafting something by hand that will be worn for a lifetime
Interested in this exclusive studio experience, but worried your wedding date is looming? Kate reassures: “We’ll work miracles. We always make sure our couples get their wedding rings right on time.”
