Let's face it, your reception is the culmination of planning - much of it emotional - to celebrate marrying your loved one!!

As you survey the crowd, sitting at the top table, watching your family catchup with your friends (many for the first time), the addition of alcohol can mar your special day. It can be stressful for some.

Can you really blame the mother-in-law screaming obscenities during the speeches, best man emptying a six-pack of beer on the polished wood floor then sliding onto the dance floor or a bridesmaid revealing her breasts during the bridal waltz (all true events at weddings I've been to) - they've drunk too much, due to the pressure, losing control.

But yes, drink. Moderately. But take it easy.

Salute your spouse. Cheers your wedding champions. Sip to success. It's your wonderful, crazy, loving day.

And stay classy, San Diego!

Enjoy your night

The decision as to whether a couple drinks at their reception is a personal one based on many issues including cost, culture, tradition, availability, permission by the venue, etc. However, as long as there is a focus on the responsible service of alcohol, there shouldn't be any problems.
