Set in the Victorian High Country, our property isn’t just a venue - it’s our home. From the moment you arrive, we’re here to make sure your day runs smoothly and feels true to you. The views are stunning, the space is all yours, and the experience is intentionally personal from start to finish.
We only host a limited number of weddings each year for up to 120 guests. That means no back-to-back bookings, no pressure to rush, and no production-line feel. Just a peaceful, beautiful setting and the kind of support that helps everything run smoothly behind the scenes - so you can relax and enjoy the moment.
We’re hands-on, down-to-earth, and focused on helping you create a day that feels right - not rehearsed. One that your guests will rave about for all the right reasons.

Simon and Sophie are your hosts at beautiful Howqua Lodge, a private wedding venue since 2015. They live and breathe the relaxed country lifestyle and love sharing this special part of Victoria’s High Country with others. With a hands-on approach and genuine hospitality, they’ve created a place where guests feel welcome, unhurried, and completely at home. FAQ
Bookings can be made for weddings in a few months or a couple of years! We recommend securing your dates as early as possible, especially if you’re aiming for a wedding during the popular Spring and Autumn seasons. We limit weddings each year to provide a relaxed, personalised experience.
Yes we can! You are welcome to use any suppliers you choose, but we encourage our couples to support local businesses and can supply a list of recommended suppliers from caterers to photographers, music, celebrants, bus transport etc.
Yes we do. We have beautiful timber trestle tables, cross-back chairs, stools, wine barrels, market umbrellas and bench seats for the ceremony. There is no need to hire furniture.
The Stables sleeps up to 18 guests in 4 bedrooms, in a combination of single bunks, single beds and double beds.
There is no camping at Howqua Lodge. There are many accommodation options in the local area for guests.
Buses are required to transport your guests (who are not staying in The Stables) from their accommodation in the local area to Howqua Lodge and back so they can have a great time and not worry about driving.
We have both outdoor and covered spaces for your ceremony and reception. We will work with you to make sure your day runs smoothly, rain or shine.
