Hinterland House is a beautifully restored 1906 estate, located just one minute from Bangalow and 10 minutes from Byron Bay.
Set on 20 acres of macadamia farmland, this heritage-listed property offers uninterrupted hinterland views and a private, elegant setting for intimate elopements, wedding accommodation for bridal party and weddings up to 150 guests.
The estate features vine-covered walls, handcrafted stonework, leadlight windows, and wide wrap around verandahs — creating a romantic backdrop for both ceremonies and receptions. Guests arrive via a palm-lined driveway and can choose from a variety of picturesque ceremony spots and manicured lawns for outdoor celebrations.
Onsite accommodation is available for up to 16 guests across the main house and two adjoining cottages. With eight bedrooms, four bathrooms, and full chefs kitchen, it’s ideal for hosting close family or the wedding party.

If you have additional guests and would like them to stay close by, we have local accommodations we can recommend.

The property is ideal for wedding celebrations that span the weekend - from rehersal or pre wedding dinners, to the recovery celebration the following day.

Guests have access to the entire estate, including a 14-metre swimming pool, fire pit, fully equipped kitchens, meile appliances including washing machine and dryer, yoga deck, and expansive gardens. Linen, towels, and basic pantry items are also provided.
Yes, Hinterland House is family-friendly. Please note the property includes open verandahs and a fuly fenced pool, so children should be supervised at all times.

Yes, the property has ample onsite parking for overnight guests however if you are holding celebrations of any kind, including your wedding, we have a bus-in policy with a small number of ubers allowed to drop off guests who need access assistance.
No, unfortunately we do not allow pets on the property to maintain our grounds and guest experience. However, we do know that pets are an important part of the family and often your special day. Upon approval, we do allow dogs to be present during the ceremony and then to be taken to a special minder (we have lots of doggy daycare we can recommend!).
Hinterland House can host weddings and elopements of up to 150 guests. The estate offers a variety of ceremony locations and options for outdoor receptions.
We do - we work a select number of external providers - who we must approve prior to being engaged to work at Hinterland House.
We don’t offer fixed packages — instead, we provide a beautiful, flexible space for you to design your celebration your way. Venue hire and accommodation are quoted based on your specific needs and then your external suppliers - wedding planner, caterer etc form the cost of the wedding.
Absolutely. Many guests choose to stay at Hinterland House while attending or hosting weddings elsewhere in the Byron region. It's an ideal base for bridal parties and family groups.
We kindly ask that all events respect our noise curfew and guest capacity. We operate under a strict no-party policy for non-wedding bookings. Our reservations manager and your wedding planner will discuss this at length with you, so it is all transparent and clear from the beginning.
Yes, marquees can be installed on the grounds. We can recommend suppliers and discuss suitable areas for setup.
