Is there any real reason to wear heels under a full-length gown if they won't be seen?

I am heading into my dress fittings with an ongoing knee issue and would much prefer to wear flats. Since my dress completely covers my feet, I want to know if heel height impacts posture, dress drape, or overall fit in a way flats cannot, or if comfort should win every time.
