Does the bride pay for the bridesmaids makeup and dresses

To answer your question it depends on what you would like to pay for most brides pay for dress, shoes hair and makeup as for other additional beauty treatments it is then left up to the bridesmaid.

I agree with the other responses. :)

Traditionally yes you would be expected to pay but times have most definitely changed! Its no secret that weddings can get very expensive & most of your friends/family would have your best interests at heart so I'm sure if you asked them to pay for a couple of little things they would not be offended. You will probably get the opposite reaction where they will be more than happy to help you out as much as they possibly can. All you can do is ask the question.

Now days you can pick up some great deals -

where make up is concerned you can get the girls to pay for the make up on the day & if you use well renowned brand like MAC they usually have offers where the girls will get to choose some of the products & get to keep them (up to a certain dollar value) so they will get something out of it if that helps soften the blow.

Dresses - there are lots of beautiful dresses sold at great prices which are definitely bridesmaid worthy like - forever new & stores like that. You will find that special occasion dresses don't always sell fast & many stores carry the same stock - you may be able to save heaps on the dresses when the store has a big sale. :)

There are ways to help them not spend a fortune so if you are willing to help find a good deal they will appreciate that too.

Hello and good question.....Generally speaking the bride and groom cover the "professional" costs of their bridal party for hair , make up and spray tans and mani /pedi particularly if you have a very particular style and theme for your big day. If "cost" is an issue ( and lets face it - it usually is for all of us) ...... then have an open and candid discussion with your gals and I am sure that collectively you will arrive at a mutually acceptable outcome.

Hi there,

Typically the bridesmaid dresses would be paid for. If cost is an issue, you could ask the bridesmaids to do their own makeup, or nominate one person who is good at doing mKeup, to do the rest of the bridesmaids. If they would prefer to have theirs done, explain it is a little out of your budget, but they could use your makeup lady if they cover the cost. The majority of my brides to cover the expenses of the bridesmaids and groomsmen, though, I have had brides that were unable to, just be open and honest and it wasn't a problem at all.
