When you do seating arrangements, is table 1 generally the brides family plus the partners of the wedding party? How would you seat the grooms parents if they are both remarried and really don't get along?
Does it matter if you don't have an engagement party?
My partner and I got engaged the weekend before Christmas. We both then spent Christmas with our families in separate states and were individually spoilt and fussed over. Is it overly important to have an engagement party as our family and friends are all over the country. Would rather now dive in with wedding planning and save every penny for our wedding...but feeling like we may be missing an important part of being engaged without an engagement party??!
Spring Dove Events
Hi there,
It is not necessary to have an engagement party if all your close ones are all over the country. Some people choose not to do it due to funds or similar situation like yours. It really depends if you and your partner want to have this occasion or maybe could even just get some close friends or relative to have a small dinner.
Hope my advice helped you in however your decision turns out to be. Do contact me if you would like further assistance and advice :)

Hi Hayley, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Exciting times to plan! :) generally table 1 would usually be bride and grooms immediate family. But then again there is no rules of how to do a seating arrangements. Typically its good to put the immediate family memebers closest to the bridal table followed by relatives then close friends. Partners of the wedding party can be seated with close friends that they know.
Best to put family members in seperate tables if they don't get along.
Hope this helps and all the best in your planning!
Kind regards,
