Get Expert AdviceIs it ok to have a few hours gap between the ceremony and reception?
I have friends and family travelling from overseas for the wedding. Day will start around 9ish with a bride pick up and wedding "gate crash" followed by tea ceremony and actual wedding ceremony around 12.30. Reception won't be until 6pm. Is that too long a break? My mum and rellies would like to refresh prior to reception and change clothes so they don't mind the gap but not sure what others will think...

Hi Linda
It shouldn't be a problem at all, I'd suggest you make sure your guests know of the break prior so they can plan something in the spare time if they want. As you have guests travelling from overseas it could be useful for them to arrange a catch up in the spare time with family / friends who aren't attending the wedding or to catch up with each other. It used to be standard for guests to enjoy a few hours at a pub or someone's house inbetween the ceremony and reception while the bridal party went elsewhere for their photo session.
With Perth weather in March it could be very helpful for some freshen up time after the ceremony and to change clothes for the reception if it is a really hot day, and some guests might like to wear different outfits for day time and night time so as long as they know in advance, it should be fine.
Enjoy your day.

Alternatives to rose petals/bubbles after the ceremony
Hi there, Does anyone have any ideas for alternatives to rose petals and bubbles that our guests can throw after the ceremony? Thanks in advance :)
K.I.S.S. Weddings and K.I.S.S. Pop-Up Weddings
Hi Catie
Kelly-Louise has provided many good suggestions for you already, just thought I'd mention to check with the venue or wherever you are having your ceremony as many will have restrictions on what can be thrown. As much as you can ensure them you will clean up after yourselves, with wind and weather conditions you may not be able to get them all. Some wineries won't allow rose petals for example and it's very common for places not to allow rice or confetti to be thrown.
I hope this helps, good luck with your big day.

Hi
If you aren't having anything too elaborate, the shortest timeframe would be one month as that is the legal requirement for the paperwork. With the right help you can have a beautiful wedding in any timeframe. By hiring a planner who has suppliers onhand and knows what they are doing, it can be a very easy and stress-free process for you. If you hire someone like us, we would arrange everything for your ceremony (Celebrant, photographer, bouquet, button hole, styling, set up, pack up) and co-ordinate all for you. Then if you have a venue reception, they have a co-ordinator to handle all or most of the aspects and suppliers needed to provide your reception. Dependent on availability of course.
If having a backyard reception, it will depend on how elaborate you want to go and how organised you and your family / friends are. You can always get professional help with providing a great backyard wedding as well.
I hope this helps, good luck with your wedding planning.
Regards, Jodii & Cassie
