I'm based in Bowral (Southern Highlands) but have worked a lot in Sydney. Where is your wedding being held?

Congratulations on the engagement. I'll be straight with you: we're based up in South East Queensland, so we're not the right team to shoot a Sydney wedding unless you're planning a destination day our way. A few of the Sydney suppliers above have already put their hands up, so you've got some good local options to start with.
What I can help with is how to actually pick the right one, because that's the same wherever you are. Look at full galleries rather than just the highlight reels on Instagram, ideally a whole wedding shot start to finish, so you can see how someone handles the hard bits like a harsh midday ceremony or a dim reception room, not just the pretty golden hour stuff. Sydney light is glorious but it's bright, and a photographer who knows how to work with that says a lot.
One question worth asking that people often forget: who actually edits your photos and video. Some studios send their editing offshore to keep costs down, which can mean your gallery comes back looking different to the portfolio you fell in love with. We edit every frame in-house ourselves, and I'd genuinely encourage you to ask any photographer you meet with the same thing, because consistency from booking to final gallery is everything.
Last thing: make sure you actually click with them as a person. They'll be beside you through every emotional moment of the day, so a relaxed half hour chat over coffee or a video call tells you more than any price list. Best of luck with it all.
