wedding photographers in their own home town are the best.
Sometimes photographers are willing to do it for the cost of flight and accommodation and others will charge differently. Discussing the details with your favourite photographers will give you a good idea. All the best x
It really depends on the photographer you are looking at sometimes its cheaper and some times its more expensive you need to ask the photographer you are interested in, I have been told by my clients it was cheaper for them to get us to drive the 2+hrs to there wedding then to hire the local guy even with the travel cost includes. thats another point how far will the photographer be traverling 2hrs down the road will be diffrent to when the photographer needs to stay over a night or two

The honest answer is that it can go either way, and it really comes down to how the photographer prices the travel side of things. With a Bali wedding you are usually looking at flights, a few nights' accommodation, transfers and often a day or two on either side of the wedding so we are rested and not shooting jet-lagged. Some photographers fold all of that into a flat destination package, others quote their normal coverage and then add travel on top, so always ask exactly what is and isn't included before you compare two quotes.
One thing worth weighing up: hiring a local Bali photographer can look cheaper on paper because there are no flights, but you lose the certainty of knowing exactly who is turning up, how they shoot and how they edit. When we travel for a wedding, you have already met us, seen our full work and know the photos and films come back edited in-house by our own team, never outsourced or sent offshore. That consistency is a big part of what you are paying for, not just hours on the day.
A couple of practical tips from doing this: try to book a photographer who will commit to arriving at least a day early so weather, delayed flights or lost luggage can't derail your coverage, and check whether their travel costs are per person if there's a second shooter or videographer. If you let your favourite photographers know your dates and venue early, most of us can give you a clear all-in figure rather than a vague guess. Congratulations, Bali weddings are gorgeous to shoot.
