We are the Canberra based Wedding band ‘Something Like This’. We have evolved into one of the biggest bands on the Wedding and Corporate scene over the last decade.
Apart from sounding great, we have an excellent reputation that has been built on reliability, professionalism and putting clients needs as our number one priority.
We are a full time group of professional musicians who believe that we can add to your event - whether you're after quiet background jazz, to classic rock, to ultra modern pop.
We have got it covered, and our philosophy is that once you've booked "Something Like This" - your entertainment needs have already been taken care of!
We are completely flexible in terms of what lineup and instruments we provide, and regularly play as anything from a 3 piece up to a big band 9 piece. Hi, My name is Rohan and I'm the manager for "Something Like This" wedding band. Relax! Our aim is to make booking us as easy as possible, to give you a completely professional show at a competitive price that is great value for money. We provide everything - Ourselves, our instruments, microphones, all the speakers and PA, the lighting, and as much live music as you want. Our philosophy is to take the entire weight of the entertainment side of your event completely off your shoulders.
We don’t price should be an issue when booking the right band for your wedding, but understand that you need to keep an eye on the bottom line. That’s why we have several packages available to suit all styles of events and all budgets. All you need to do is chat to us and we can recommend a package, while taking all your needs into consideration.
Probably! We are an experienced, professional band which has an extensive songlist. You’re welcome to send through any song requests and if we don’t already know them, we’ll be happy to learn them for you if it’s for a special request (for a bridal dance etc.).
We have a single fee depending on the package you’re after. For a reception for example, we can play as much or as little as you’d like, with 100% flexibility. The reason for that is that things often don’t go as exactly as the run sheet says – so, we’re there long before your reception starts, and are there until after you’ve left, and for that entire time consider us yours! No hidden fees or extra charges, no GST. It couldn’t be simpler. For weddings out of the CBD, we charge $50 per musican per hour of travel.
Ideally for a wedding, after taking a deposit via transfer, we can accept your balance via transfer, credit card, paypal, cash and we can also do payment plans – whatever is easiest for you.
We are a professional and specialized wedding and function band. This means we are constantly playing to audiences containing everyone from ages 18 through to 80! We recognize the importance of having something for everyone, and play all the hits and classics – from 1950’s to present. Our wedding setlist has been tailored and refined over hundreds of events, and our philosophy to have something for everyone – so guests of all ages can enjoy the music and hear songs that they know and love. In saying that, our setlist is fully customizable based on your preferences, and if there’s any specific artists you’d like to hear for your wedding all you have to do is let us know.
We are quite flexible with this – Ideally for the full band we require a 5x3 meter space. You may also want to consider having us located away from any tables to ensure guests are not located too close to our speakers.
Yes. After booking, one of our consultants will be available by phoneor email at any time if you’ve got any follow up questions in regards to the band, or your wedding in general. We are happy to make recommendations in regards to venues, MC’s, Photographers or anything else, and assist in any way we can.
To lock in Something Like This, all you need to do is let us know the date of your event and that you want to book us. For weddings we require a 10% deposit upfront to secure the booking.
Absolutely. Many couples choose to have the original played for the dance so they can practice their dance to it at home, and be comfortable with the tempo etc. We can play it via Ipod through our system.
Sure! We’d love to have you (or whoever) up. Just let us know in advance what song(s) you’d like to perform. We’d love to have you share the stage with us.
This is up to you. We consider ourselves there to perform for you - our single priority is giving you a 100% professional performance at the best possible value. If you’d like to provide us with a meal and drinks, it would be greatly appreciated. Meals for most venues will be provided to the band at staff prices. We are more than happy to leave this to your discretion and it won’t be a deal breaker either way! If your wedding is 2.5 hours or more travel for us, we require basic accommodation.
We run monthly showcases and have public performances in various locations, It is a relaxed and fun atmosphere, come along, chat to one of us, request a song.
