How does having divorced parents change the wedding invitations?

Divorced parents need not change the invitations as all you have to do is make them generic i.e. "Susan and Michael along with their parents would like to invite......" This makes it diplomatic and very easy, so do not worry as it is quite the normal situation these days and many ways to handle it. Answer by BW Reporter at

What do we need to include on our wedding invitations?

You need to include your RSVP details, either in a seperate card or include this in the initital printing of the main invitation. Details of venue, time and date of course, dress code and perhaps Gift Suggestion Poem, again either written inside invitation or on a seperate card.  You can also include parents names on top if you wish or just make the invitation more general by saying: "Together with their families name bride and name groom have the pleasure in inviting you........" I hope this has been of help. Marie, BW Reporter.

When should I send out my invitations?

Hi, I always recommend to all my customers that invitations should be sent out no later than 3 months in advance to the event as you truly need responses to be in 4-6 weeks prior to your wedding.  Please keep in mind that most venues wish numbers to be finalised 3 weeks before your wedding date, which then means if you have some guests that have either forgotten to respond, have changes in who is coming and will let you know later or even want to add a couple of extra last minute people to the list to make up numbers as some have dropped out - you will need those 4 - 6 weeks time to get your guest list in order.  Hope this has helped, Marie BW Reporter.

Should I list a dresscode on the invitation?

This is entirely up to you, but in general if you wish your guests to be in a specific style and are worried that usually they turn up more casually than appropriate then I would definetly have that dress code in place, that way there is no mistake on their part on how to dress. Marie BW Reporter.

Is it mandatory that we include our parents' names in our wedding invitations?

My fiance and I are funding our wedding. The invitation cards we have designed is very personal as only people close to us are attending. Only about 100 people. The invitation do not mention the names of our parents. We heard that to get visa for our honeymoon to Singapore, we need to have our parents' name on the cards. But I feel it will jar with the informal nature of our cards. Is it really necessary to include our parents' names?

Hi there,

Unfortunately, I have not heard of this before.  I have had many destination weddings (a couple in Thailand) and this has never been the case as all those couples never used their parents names. For you to honeymoon in Singapore there should not be a need for parents names on invitations and even if you were marrying there.  However, if you want to make it certain, call the consulate for Singapore and make that enquiry.  I don't believe this is so, so therefore, just have your names.

When do you send out invitations? How far in advance should RSVPS be?

Hi Rachel, RSVP's should have a return by date no shorter than 4 - 6 weeks prior to event, as that will give you time to organize any table stationery you might need or invite someone extra at the last minute. Good Luck with everything...I know it will all go well! Best Wishes, Marie from BW REPORTER

Pocket fold invites - what colours look best?

Hi, I'm totally lost atm with what colours to use with my diy pocket fold invitations. The pocket folds are ivory and the paper is ivory I want to use a glitter card mat to stick the invite on but not sure if to use silver or blue. Our wedding colour is turquoise blue. Just not sure what will look better or if I should use a different colour paper then ivory. Thank you

Hi Charlene, pocket invitations look best in ivory, white or black in papers such as shimmer or plain. Hope this has been of help! Marie, BW REPORTER

What's the average cost for wedding invitations?

Looking at getting roughly 85 invitations done. I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as possible. What's the average cost.

Hi Belinda, The average cost of invitations should be between $5.50 to maximum $7.00 per unit. This will include matching printed envelopes with guest names printed inside. RVSP & Gift Details will also be included in the printing & design.BW Reporter
