Traditional formulas can smudge or transfer more easily, but if you choose a long-wear, matte, or transfer-proof formula, it’s much more resistant to both sweat and contact like kissing.

To minimize any risk, I’d recommend prepping your lips properly—using a lip liner, applying in thin layers, blotting between coats, and finishing with a setting product. That way, you can enjoy the color without worrying too much about it moving.”

Lipsense lipsticks all the way. They have different reds to choose from and they won't kiss off.
google for a supplier.

I've had many brides and clients opt for a red lip for their wedding or event and although it's a bold and high maintenance look, it can definitely be worth it overall.
All the other responses tips I highly recommend but I also always say to assign one of your bridesmaids as a "spotter" for the day. Their task is to tell you when you need to retouch or have any on your teeth or have smudged.

I love a good red lippy for a wedding. So classic, timeless and elegant!

A good red lipstick will hold through sweat and kissing.  Best to opt for a high pigment long lasting matte red, as they will hold longer.

Lip Sense, Model Rock, Morphe and many other brands out there offer long lasting products.  You can also get lipstick sealers, which are clear liquids that you paint over the top of lipstick to create a stronger hold for transfer resistant colour.

1. Choose a Long-Wear, Matte Formula

Look for “kiss-proof” or “transfer-proof” reds. Good ones:

Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour

NARS Powermatte

2. Prep Your Lips

Exfoliate + apply balm first, then blot off excess moisture.

3. Lip Liner is a Must

Line and fill in your lips before applying the lipstick. It acts as a base.

4. Blot + Layer

Apply one layer → blot with tissue → dust with translucent powder → apply second layer. This locks it in.

5. Avoid Gloss

Glossy reds transfer a lot. Stick to matte or velvet finishes.

Red lipstick can be a risky move but it doesn't always have to be. I would recommend you find a matte liquid lipstick yourself that you're happy with and try it several times to make sure it doesn't budge. I definitely would not recommend using any gloss as this will slide and get messy

Only if you're wearing a regular satin / matte finish lipstick. Stains and longwear lipsticks are a great option to avoid wear and transfer

I would suggest if you are definitely wanting to wear a red lipstick to find a long wear or lip stain that won't rub off on your husband during 'the kiss'. This way your lipstick will also withstand humidity and heat and you'll be less likely to sweat it off or transfer onto your gown or anyone else.

Red lipstick is a daring colour to wear for your wedding, so choose it wisely and make sure it's applied and dried well before you go anywhere near your gown.
