Hi, I am Pollyanna. I have over 20 working as an established makeup artist and am now based in Byron Bay, New South Wales. I grew up in Melbourne and was surrounded by the industry from a young age. My mother, a fashion designer, owned fashion and art retail shops on the iconic Chapel Street, which inspired my vision for hair and makeup artistry. My makeup style is well known for natural beauty focusing on flawless skin and lived-in hair while enhancing my client's best features.

What Makeup brands do you use?

Whilst I have been in the makeup Industry for over 20 years I also work as a skin therapist so I am cautious of the brands I use.

In an ideal world, I would like to only use makeup brands that are an extension of your skincare, and I do with the Jane Iredale Brands. However, I still work with many cult, fashion, favorites such as NARS, Stila, MAC (face and body), Urban Decay, Giorgio Armani, and Makeup Forever.

What is your pricing structure?

Brides Makeup - $160

Bridesmaid Makeup $150

Mother of / Grandmothers $140

Minimum Spend $600

Travel- Free within the Byron Shire otherwise $55 ph

Public Holiday and prior to 7am starts- +20%

How long do you take to do each makeup?

Having worked in the fashion industry for so long I have been trained to work fast but with great results.

So as to not rush anyone on the day, I like to allow 40mins per face and up to 1 hour for the bride.

Please note- I always ask that the bride's makeup not be left to last.

Pollyanna was amazing. I tend to get hormonal acne on my chin and Pollyanna gave me some great advice when I went up for my make-up trial, which meant I was looking all clear on the day! I am very fussy about make-up, I don't like wearing much of it and really wanted a natural but glam look. Polly absolutely pulled it off, I found a new lippy colour I really love, I didn't get shiny at all but my make-up stayed on and looked beautiful all night. My bridesmaids all felt the same, no cakey looks in our party! Thank you Polly for making me look and feel beautiful - make-up is such an important aspect of that and I love it in all of the photos too!! xx

Pollyanna is all things amazing. From start to finish she was cool, calm and collected during a very unknown time (covid wedding) and was super accomodating and generous with her time and energy. I'm not one for makeup generally but Pollyanna made me feel super comfortable and the end results were seriously stunning. 100/10 would recommend.

Pollyanna is an amazing makeup artist that not only knows her stuff, she is also funny, compassionate and great to communicate with. Our original wedding in March 2020 was cancelled due to COVID and Pollyanna was very understanding. We then had a surprise NYE wedding at the end of 2020 and Pollyanna was able to do my make up and the make up of my sister in law while keeping the surprise wedding under wraps. I had a trial with Pollyanna which I loved, she nailed the brief of natural, light, dewy and soft make up. I felt very glam without my make up being overdone or too much. It was perfect. She is lovely and I have recommended Pollyanna to many and will continue to do so.

When's the best time to have a hair and makeup trial?

Wondering how far out before the wedding is best, but also, would like to use the trial to help me choose my suppliers.

Based on my experience, I believe that it's beneficial to schedule a makeup trial 2-6 months prior to the wedding. This timeframe offers the opportunity to experiment with the desired makeup look while also addressing any skincare issues or objectives. By doing so, there will be ample time for the bride to establish a practical and effective wellness routine, which will help ensure that her skin is healthy and radiant on her special day.

What's a rough timeline for hair and makeup on the day?

Hi there. Would love a rough timing guide for my hair and makeup. I've got 4 bridesmaids, plus me, and my mum. We are staying at a hotel nearby the wedding venue and the ceremony starts at 5pm. Thank you!
