There are varying courses out there, some with accredited qualifications and some with not.

Here at St Rose Floristry Designs our Founder and Head Florist Mary obtained her qaulifications in Certificate III in Floristry at Marjorie Milner College in Melbourne.

Which was completed over 3 years part time whilst juggling a full time job. An impressive effort indeed!

Mary's team of assistants have experience in currently studying Floristry as well as being creatively talented in various other creative fileds.

In Australia a fully trained florist will spend 3 years at a Tafe or similar institution, gaining a Certificate III in Floristry.

In other countries throughout the world some also follow this system, whilst in some countries to become a fully trained florist requires a university degree.

A florist may complete a diploma or certificate 3 in Floristy with a recognised Training academy not just TAFE. Previous experience that can demonstrate your  range of skills and sitting a Trade test in floristry is also another way.

Some florists have training and experience and of course good communication skills, artistic flair and color matching are other skills that a florist needs. Some are just very experienced and have learnt from other florists.
