how much would the value of my dress go down once ive worn it?

if I want to sell it afterwards, how much do you think I will get back for it? Half? A quarter? I'm not sure at all, and was wondering if I can get a more expensive dress and then sell it rather then buy a cheaper wedding dress.

Hi! Thanks for your question. It really depends on the gown and the wear and tear on your dress. Definitely get the dress dry cleaned and in its best condition possible, and then worry about selling it on. Different brands/wedding dress designers hold their value differently, much like any other type of clothing. In saying that, the value of anything will go down once worn, so you have to be wary that you aren't likely to get back everything you paid for it. There is also the issue of alterations or having the gown custom made, as anything altered to fit you may lose some value to another person. So a dress with a bit of stretch to it and simplified sizing, like a Grace Loves Lace wedding dress in a size M, for example, may hold more value than one with boning, an altered hemline and more. Ideally, buy your wedding dress for an amount that you can afford rather than focusing on the resale value. A lot of people want to keep their wedding dress anyway, and you can't guarantee you will be able to sell it. What happens if you buy a dress you cannot afford in hopes of selling it, only to spill red wine on it on your wedding day? It's better to buy something you can afford rather than stressing yourself out. If you do decide to resell your dress, we have a secondhand dress marketplace here on Easy Weddings.
