Non-flower weddings what did you use for walking down the aisle

Hi, I am not a flower person and am not really wanting flowers for my wedding but the question is what do I get my bridesmaids to carry while walking down the aisle. I was thinking lanterns but they may not be practical. Please help I need ideas :)
