How long does it take to style a wedding with table decorations?

I'm thinking of hiring table decorations/styling items and doing the table setting myself on the morning of the wedding - how would the timing of this work? We are having 100 guests on round tables. Thank you!

This would depend on the centerpiece & how much you can do in advance. EG a floral arrangement can take up to an hour, however if you do most of the arrangement the day before you can cut this down to 10 minutes. Have all your glassware polished, remove any packaging on candles etc. the day prior, if you can pack each table into a container that seals so you can take in a couple of containers together, less trips back to the car- all saves time when you are on a time limit for installing.

Good luck & if you are on the Gold Coast & need assistance let me know.

There is a plain bluestone wall behind our bridal table. Does it really need something on it?

We are having a 150cm floral arrangement and LED candles along the bridal table so I am thinking that may be enough and if we put something on the wall it might look OTT. Thoughts?

Dream Designers

Going with your information & without seeing the wall & how it relates to the room & the rest of the decor, I would leave it plain so that the focus is the bridal table. First thing people look at when they walk into a room is lighting - fairylights & candles - then the rest of the room. So long as you have heaps of candles on the bridal table the wall should just make a nice natural backdrop. If you want to make it more of a focus I would use a light wash from the bottom. Hope this help.

What current trends do you think will be tacky in ten years time?

Think puffy sleeved dresses in the 80s. What is hot right now but might not last the test of time?

Dream Designers

Everything has it's time in the circle of fashion. For example Babies breath - hugely popular in the 80 & early 90's was taboo in the noughties & is now back in as a favourite, no doubt it will run it's time. Bling will run it's time too. Gold & the metallics is starting to make a come back at the moment but will run it's course as well.  Vintage & Boho: 80 - 60 years ago people only drank out of mason jars because they were poor & glasses were kept for good - we now think it's trendy. We use jars for candles & as vases for flowers - again this was only something the poor did. Fragipanni - in the noughties every second wedding had to have fragipanni flowers- this is now a rareity .

Always choose a style that is "you" & a style that you love. You may wonder "what was I thinking!" in years to come but that's all part of the fun of life.

I can't decide how to decorate my reception venue, my theme is navy and peach.

I like Lily's as my flowers and really like beach themed decorations as well.

Hi Sonya

You need to think about what your "style" is & what look is you. Are you light & soft or do you like a bit of colour. For example - Navy is a great strong colour but it may be too heavy for the look you want to do with sashes & overlays. Have a look at some black & white theme photos (navy is lighter but still the same strength of colouring). You can pick up the peach with the centerpiece. If they feel too heavy for you & prefer the look of a lighter beachy theme go more with the peach/ champagne colours, white or peach centerpieces pick up the navy with name tags & other bits & pieces. It's the same with centerpieces - most people either like tall centerpieces or short centerpieces, I have never had a couple really like both. Hope this helps.
