Help me decide pls! I suppose I'm torn with the sit-down dinner as I don't want to create too much separation.

Hi lovely, we do both, sit down & cocktail style. They are both wonderful. Cocktail style is a bit more relaxed, there is more room to mingle it's a bit more social as everyone walks around and get to talk to everyone. We do walk the food around and ensure every guest gets to try every treat. I always recommend a fea seats available though, especially for the elderly. It's normally decorated with some couches & also barrels with stools.
With the sit down set up, you get a bit of both, as cocktail hour is cocktail style (canapes) & then guests sit down for a more formal dinner. Mains normally go for 1h, and guests already start standing up as they finish eating to go grab a drink, smoke, chat with other tables, etc. So it gets a bit messy after a bit. I feel like when there is sit down dinner + sit doen speeches, people get a bit over it, unless the speeches are short (20min total).
Again, they are two different styles and they are both magnificent and very special!
Hope this helps.

Cocktail is far more popular at the moment , if you're having a large amount of guests , it can be alot easier and more cost effective to go with this option ! A sit down dinner is always beautiful but will generally set you back more $, you also need to consider what kind of atmosphere you want. A sit down dinner feels far more formal than a cocktail affair.

As pizza caterers, we have provided both sit-down dinners and cocktail style dinners.
Cocktail style is definitely much more laid back and relaxed. People eat more, as they are grazing. They can mingle while they eat. And there's usually a variety of things to choose from, not just what is placed on the table infront of you.
We have been at weddings where there is still a bridal table, even though there is no formal seating arrangement for the guests. This works well for speeches.
Weddings that choose the cocktail style, in our opinion as pizza caterers, get the most value for money.

All though a sit down dinner is nice and formal a cocktail canape service allows you more time to mingle with your guests.
Most of the weddings we have been Catering for this year are hiring Cocktail Tables and allowing more room for guests to dance and move around the event space.
Hope this helps.
It's a very big question. We have succesfully experieced both presentation styles. We would encourage you call Dianne on 'ph 83710505 to ascertain what would work best in your particular circumstances.
Thank You from Plenty Catering Co
I guess you need to consider the atmosphere you want. Would you prefer every sat at a table mingling with just those people or would you prefer people roaming and mingling with whoever they like as they eat.. I guess you could also consider the fact if people would prefer a meal or finger food.

Cocktail weddings can be a great money saver as you don't need all the cutlery, crockery, tables chairs - no hire, no set up! And proividing you choose a good hearty cocktail fingerfood package - your guests wil eat similar amounts to a seated meal without the hassle!
