Traditionally wedding cakes were white and covered in a sugary Royal Icing as there were no real preservatives in the cakes and the white signified Purity. However these days a wedding cake can be any shape, colour, style or theme which suits the Bridal couple. I have made black cakes, blue, red, orange, you name itif it can be done I will try to please the couple!
I think traditionally wedding cakes were white to reflect the purity of the marriage. Brides eere white to signify purity so the cake was also white. Theze days there are really no rules!
Wedding cakes were traditionally white (purity) but any colour may be used, there are no restrictions re: colour or design.

Hi,
Interesting question. Traditional white was seen as a colour of purity which was back in Queen Victoria's era. How times have changed! These days wedding cakes reflect the personality of both partners, interests they have or share, themed or favorite flavours.
Hope this helps.
